All-District 5-3A team released

Eunice High placed four players on the 2019 All-District 5-3A basketball team.
Northwest’s Chester Randall was named the District 5-3A Coach of the Year as the Raiders finished with a 12-2 district record.
Bobcat senior Carlin Vigers earned first team honors along with Co-MVP selections Colby Wilson from Iota and Pine Prairie’s Isaiah Payne.
Keshaun Lazard from Northwest and Crowley’s Marquarius Thorne were also named to the first team.
Eunice senior Mykal Moore earned second team honors along with Port Barre’s Kyeron Malveaux, Braeden Board from Crowley, Mamou’s Leandre Harrison and Mekhi Hammod from Northwest.
Eunice’s Treylon Cooper was named to the All-Defensive team along with Trent White from Church Point and Crowley’s Ronderisc Nelson.
Isaiah Seraille from Port Barre, Iota’s Kyle Thibodeaux, Kamryn Guidry from Northwest, Pine Prairie’s Kyle Carson and Mason Tinley from Mamou complete the All-Defensive team.
Eunice’s Divine Hampton was named to the Honorable Mention list.
No. 13 Northwest (18-13) opened the playoffs with a 58-51 win over No. 20 Jena before falling 72-33 to eventual state champion Madison Prep.
No. 14 Pine Prairie (17-9) was upset in overtime, 68-57 to No. 19 Brusly.
No. 17 Iota (22-13) fell 61-37 in the opening round to No. 16 Westlake.
No. 23 Crowley (17-12) lost 53-48 to No. 10 Glen Oaks in the opening round of the playoffs.
No. 27 Port Barre (12-15) fell 51-34 to No. 6 Lake Charles College Prep in the first round.
No. 29 Eunice (9-17) lost to No. 4 seed Madison Prep, 98-58 in the first round.
No. 32 Mamou (13-21) was pushed out in the first round by No. 1 Sophie B. Wright 85-50.
