All-Parish teams released

Players from both Eunice High School and St. Edmund earned positions on the 2018 All-Parish baseball team as voted on by the St. Landry Parish head coaches.
The Eunice High Bobcats claimed the top two honors, with Bobcat head coach Scott Phillips named as Parish Coach of the Year and Jayden Brasseaux named as Most Valuable Player in the parish.
Phillips directed the Bobcats to a 29-10 overall record, the most wins in progam history.
No. 5 Eunice opened the playoffs with a 15-5 win over No. 28 Avoyelles.
The Bobcats then rolled to a pair of 12-2, 6-2 victories over No. 12 North Vermilion in the best-of-three regional round games.
Eunice’s season ended in the Class 3-A quarterfinals as the Bobcats fell 12-2, 12-3 to the eventual state champions Berwick.
Eunice placed six players on the first team, including Brasseaux, who saw action as a pitcher, an outfielder, and a pitcher during the season.
Other Bobcats named to the first team were Ian George as a pitcher, Joshua Youngblood as catcher, Tyler Darbonne at first base, Austin Phillips at shortstop and Seth Venable as a utlilty player.
St. Edmund’s Peyton Marcantel earned a first team spot as a utility player.
The Blue Jays won the District 4-1A title, but were pushed out in the first round to the eventual Division IV state runners-up St. John.
Both Eunice schools had players named to the second team.
Dawson Ardoin represented the Blue Jays as a pitcher, while Bobcat Grant Fontenot earned a spot as an infielder.
Eunice High’s Luke Andrepont earned a second team spot as a utility player. Andrepont saw action this past season as a pitcher, outfielder and infielder.
Brock Bieber earned a second-team spot as an infielder for the Blue Jays.
The softball coaches also made their selections for the All-Parish team, highlighted by eight St. Edmund Lady Jays making the list.
Beau Chene pitcher Lacey Bonvillian was named parish MVP, while Lady Gator coach Thad Dickey was selected as Parish Coach of the Year.
St. Edmund’s Maggie Larriviere was named first team pitcher, while Kinsley Marcantel was voted first team catcher.
Lady Jay Gabby Fontenot was selected as first team shortstop, joined by Jaedyn Soileau as first team outfielder.
Karleigh Soileau was named second team pitcher, while Abby Miller was second team oufielder and Olivia Clark was selected as second team utility player.
St. Edmund’s Anna Belle Fontenot was listed as honorable mention.
The Lady Jays won the District 4-1A title, but were pushed out of the Divsion IV playoffs in the first round by the eventual state champions Cedar Creek.
Six Eunice High players were added to the honorable mention list including Cassie Thomas, Amber Arvie, Olivia Thibodeaux, Jalyn Pavivh, Natalie Vidrine and Nicole Vidrine.
The No. 25 Lady Bobcats were knocked out of the playoffs in a 3-1 loss to No. 8 South Beauregard.
