Ardoin signs with Nunez College

St. Edmund senior Dawson Ardoin will continue his baseball career with the Nunez Community College Pelicans.
“They made me feel at home the first visit I made,” Ardoin said. “I want to be a part of the building blocks for their the foundation.”
NCC is in its second season as an NJCAA Division I baseball program, finishing 3-28 last season.
The Pelicans are presently 9-29, playing their home games at Chalmette High School.
“I am proud to be part of a strong baseball tradition at St. Ed’s,” he said. “The coaches have helped prepare me for college,”Ardoin said. “They teach us how to win and and what it take to be successful as students and athletes.”
The Blue Jays are presently 17-6 overall and 3-0 in District 4-1A.
“I am thrilled to see Dawson get the chance at the next level,” St. Edmund head coach Barry Manuel said. “It is up to him to make the best of his oppportunity.
“He is a competitor and wants to win,” the coach said. “He has three or four pitches that he can get over the plate.
“Coaches like guys who can throw strikes and he is in the zone all the time,” Manuel said. “Dawsom will only get better as he matures, gets stronger in the weight romm and learn from what his college coaches teach him.
“After two years there he will be much more polished to head to the next level.
Manuel said being part of Nunez’s beginning will give Ardoin a place in the Pelicans’ baseball history.
“It’s great that he is part of the group that will set the stage for the future,” the coach said. “You never know what they can accomplish.
“I am proud for Dawson and I think it will be a good stepping stone for him and his college career.
“It is great to see he gets a chance.”
