It was a big win for the Blue Jays as St. Edmund grabbed a 54-44 victory over Church Point.
The Jays opened the game with a 10-7 run, aided by five points from Easten Coleman.
The Bears (2-4) regrouped for a 12-11 second quarter, sparked by two treys from Xavier Morell.
With a 21-19 halftime advantage, St. Ed’s continued to hold a slim lead with a 15-11 third period battle.
Coleman led the Jays with six points in the quarter, while Khaled Babineaux scored four points for the Bears.
St. Edmund sealed the win with an 18-14 fourth quarter run.
Kieran Davis scored in the lane and Coleman added two free throws on a technical foul against the Bears.
He later converted a three-point play and Alex Fontenot added two free throws for a 54-41 advantage.
The Bears kept the game close with three treys, including a late shot by Tyler Simmons.
Coleman led St. Ed’s with 23 points, while Davis added 11 points.
Babineaux led the Bears with 12 points and teammate Brayden Andrews chipped in 10 points.
St. Edmund (12-5) entertains Comeaux on Wednesday.

The Lady Bears scored the final five points including two free throws by Tra’Nassia Citizen as Church Point rallied for a 37-34 win over the Lady Jays.
The game was a battle from the opening tip as the two teams fought a 9-9 first quarter tie,
Savannah DeVillier scored four points for the Lady Jays, while Mary Beth Lafleur drained a trey and Rebecca Benoit added a bucket.
Citizen scored three points in the period for the Lady Bears, while Mar’Tisha Dugas, Taliya Senegal and Mallory Mayfield each added a bucket.
Church Point out-scored the Lady Jays 10-9 in the second quarter to give the Lady Bears a slim 19-18 halftime advantage.
DeVillier scored seven points in the period as Benoit and Benoit each added a free throw.
The two defenses controlled the third quarter as St. Ed’s out-scored the Lady Bears, 7-6.
Anna Belle Fontenot scored four points to spark the Lady Jays.
St. Ed’s Greta Miller added a bucket and Mary Helen Miller hit a free throw.
Jazmine Boudreaux scored four points and Dugas added a bucket for the Lady Bears.
With the game tied 25-25 heading into the final quarter, the battle for control continued with the Lady Bears grabbing a three-point lead.
Fontenot scored four points, Mary Helen Miller hit a trey and Benoit added a bucket as the Lady Jays tied the game, 34-34.
Sengal and Citizen hit treys, while Boudreaux and Dugas added buckets to kept the Lady Bears close.
DeVillier led the Lady Jays with 11 points and Fontenot followed with eight points.
Boudreaux led Church Point with 10 points, while Citizen and Senegal each chipped in eight points.
St. Edmund (8-5) entertains Bell City on Tuesday.
Church Point (9-9) travels to District 5-3A rival Iota (9-7) on Tuesday.
