Blue Jays earn win over Tarpons

GRAND CHENIER – The Blue Jays earned a key District 4-1A road win Tuesday as St. Edmund rolled to a 13-2 mercy-rule victory over South Cameron.
The Blue Jays (10-14, 2-1) grabed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, begun when Brad Miller reached on an error and scored on a double by Brock Bieber.
Beiber scored when Lance Miller reached on an error to push the Jays ahead, 2-0.
South Cameron (2-9, 1-3) responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, begun when Caleb Little walked and scored on a hit by Austin Vincent.
Braydon Richard reached on an error and the Tarpons tied the game when Diago Morales lined out, scoring Richard.
The Blue Jays answered with three runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.
Bryce Vidrine doubled and scored when Ian Dupre reached on an error.
Will Turk singled and scored on a hit by Kaden Fontenot.
Jack Miller singled in Fontenot as the Blue Jays led, 5-2.
The Blue Jays added two runs in the top of the third, begun when Dawson Ardoin singled and scored when Turk reached on an error.
Turk later scored on another Tarpon miscue as the Jays moved ahead, 7-2.
St. Edmund exploded for four runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Brad Miller doubled and scored when Jack Miller singled.
Bieber reached on an error to plate Jack Miller and Ardoin singled in Bieber, while Remi Guillory walked and scored on a throwing error.
St. Edmund added two insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning, begun when Ardoin doubled and scored on a hit by Vidrine.
Vidrine scored when Turk reached on the eight South Cameron error of the game.
Bieber earned the win as he allowed one hit with six strikeouts.
Josh Landry fanned one and allowed one hit in relief.
Brayden Richard suffered the loss as he allowed seven runs on six hits, striking out one.
The Blue Jays finished with 12 hits, sparked by Ardoin (3-for-4, RBI, 2 stolen bases, 2 runs scored) and Vidrine (3-for-4, BI, 2 runs scored).
Jack Miller finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
St. Edmund wil take on Hamilton Christian at 5 p.m. Tuesday as district action continues.
