CROWLEY – It was a sweep for St. Edmund basketball Monday as the Jays grabbed a pair of win over Notre Dame.
The Lady Jays trailed St. Edmund’s Rebecca Benoit hit a bucket at the buzzer as St. Edmund earned a 36-34 win over the Lady Pioneers.
Notre Dame (3-3) jumped out to a 10-7 first quarter lead, sparked by four points from Kelsey Broussard.
Benoit scored four points in the opening quarter and Mary Beth Lafleur chipped in a trey for the Lady Jays.
The two teams battled to an 11-11 tie in the second quarter as Notre Dame took a 21-18 lead into the intermission.
Tanzy Miller and Lafleur both drilled treys, Anna Belle Fontenot added three points and Greta Miller chipped in a bucket for the Lady Jays.
St. Ed’s outgained Notre Dame 7-6 in the third period, led by five points from Tanzy Miller.
Benoit added a bucket as the Lady Jays closed the gap to 27-25 heading into the final quarter.
St. Edmund’s fourth quarter 11-7 surge was aided by four points from Savannah DeVillier, a trey by Greta Miller and two free throws from Lafleur.
Benoit finished with eight points including the game-winning shot.
Lafleur and Tanzy Miller also contributed eight points each, while Greta Miller finished with five points.
Margaret Schmid led Notre Dame with nine points, while Gabby Cates added eight points.
The Lady Jays (3-1) will entertain Pine Prairie (4-3) at 6 p.m. tonight.

SEH 70, Notre Dame 59
The Blue Jays opened the season with a 70-59 win over Notre Dame.
The Pioneers (0-1) pushed ahead 13-10 in the first quarter, sparked by nine points from Parker McNees.
Henry Brown and Easten Coleman each chipped in four points and Kieran Davis added two points as the Blue Jays battled to keep the game close.
St. Edmund went on a 20-13 run in the second period as the Jays rallied for a 30-28 advantage at the break.
Davis led the Jays with eight points in the period, while Coleman added six points.
Brown and Luke Trahan both drilled treys in the quarter for the Jays.
Teddy Menard led the Pioneers with seven points in the period.
St. Edmund pushed its lead to 45-39 as the Jays outscored Notre Dame, 15-11 third period.
Coleman scored seven points, while Brown chipped in four points in the period.
Davis and Trahan both added a bucket for the Jays.
Chris Schmid led the Pios with seven points in the quarter.
The two offenses exploded in the fourth quarter as St. Edmund outscored the Pioneers 25-21 to seal the win.
Coleman scored nine points in the period to finish with 26 points.
Davis pushed in five points to finish with 17 points.
Trahan scored seven points in the period to finish with 12 points.
Brown scored three points in the quarter to close the game with 15 points.
McNees surged for 18 points to lead the Pioneers in the quarter and finished with 31 points.
Menard chipped in 14 points for Notre Dame, while Schmid finished with 12 points.

Mamou 56, SEH 54
MAMOU – The Green Demons exploded for 24 fourth quarter points Tuesday as Mamou rallied for a 56-54 win over the Blue Jays.
Mamou opened with a 19-15 run, aided by 11 points from Collin Enicke.
Brown and Coleman both scored four points for the Jays, while Davis pushed in five points in the quarter.
St. Edmund rallied for a 10-4 second quarter surge to grab a 25-23 halftime advantage.
Brown scored five points in the period to lead the Jays.
St. Edmund pushed ahead with a 13-9 run in the third period, aided by five points from Trahan and four more by Brown.
Tyrian Broussard pushed in six points for the Green Demons along with trey by Jaquan Jack.
Trailing by six points heading into the fourth quarter, the Green Demons outscored SEH 24-15 in the final period to grab the win.
Enicke was held scoreless in the second and third quarters, but pushed in seven points in the fourth quarter to finish with 18 points.
Broussard scored six points to finish with 18 points.
Jerez Edwards scored six points in the period for the Green Demons.
Davis scored six points in the period for the Jays to finish with 14 points.
Brown chipped in three points to close with 14 points.
Trahan scored three points to finish with 12 points, while Coleman added a bucket to finish with 10 points.
St. Edmund will participate in the Northside Christian tournament as the Jays face Crowley at 8 p.m. tonight.
St. Ed’s will take Northside Christian at 4 p.m. Friday and conclude the tournament at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against North Vermilion.
