The offensive struggles continued for St. Edmund as the Blue Jays dropped their sixth game in a row.
Hackberry jumped out to a 12-6 first quarter advantage and the Mustangs rolled to a 61-21 win Tuesday night at the Blue Jay gym.
The Mustangs (7-9) pushed out to a 5-0 lead before the Jays responded with a trey by Carter Andrus and a drive in the lane from Stephan Thibodeaux.
Blue Jay Alex Dupre later hit a free throw to close the gap to 10-6 but a last-second shot off the glass gave Hackberry a 12-6 advantage.
Austin Gradney scored early in the second period and Thibodeaux added two free throws to help the Jays, but the Mustangs closed the period with a 15-0 run.
Dean Sanner and Ian Poole both hit treys, while Hackberry added eight free throws to take a 34-10 lead into the locker room.
The Mustangs opened the second half with an 11-0 surge, sparked by a trey from Poole and fourpoints each from Bryce Welch and Keaton Jinks.
St. Edmund regrouped as Dupre drilled two treys and Andrus hit a free throw to close the gap to 45-17.
Hackberry ended the third period with two inside buckets by Sanner and a free throw from Drew Kyle for a 50-17 advantage.
The Mustangs added to its lead with a 6-0 run to open the fourth quarter, aided by buckets from Welch, Payton Delome and Sanner.
Dupre hit three free throws to close the margin to 57-20, but Hackberry answered with buckets by Cameron Kyle and Alex Tingler.
Gradney hit a free throw with 14 seconds left to make the final, 61-21.
In the Basile tournament, the Blue Jays fell to Church Point (81-33) and Northside Christian Academy (90-55).
Church Point held an 18-5 advantage after the first quarter as the Bears pushed ahead 41-17 at the break.
After a 21-8 third quarter surge, Church Point sealed the win with a 19-8 run in the fourth quarter.
Christian Fontenot scored 10 points to lead the Jays against Church Point.
Deshawn Wheeler pushed in 18 points to lead Church Point, while Coby Wilson added 11 points.
Northside exploded for a 27-14 first quarter lead and moved ahead, 71-30 at intermission.
The Warriors outscored the Jays 26-6 in the third period before both teams battled to a 19-19 final period.
Austin Gradney led St. Edmund with 20 points, while Carter Andrus contributed 15 and Alex Dupre added 11 points.
Dillon Hays led Northside with 23 points.
On Monday, the Blue Jays fell 74-22 to Kaplan as the Pirates opened the game with a 24-4 first quarter run.
A 16-7 second quarter surge pushed Kaplan ahead, 40-11 at the break.
The Pirates went on a 19-6 run in the third quarter to take a 59-17 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Kaplan capped the win with a 15-5 fourth quarter surge as the Pirates closed with a 52-point win.
St. Edmund (2-10) travels to Vermilion Catholic Friday.
