Blue Jays give out fall sports awards

St. Edmund athletics celebrated its fall sports with a ceremony as numerous athletes were recognized.
In volleyball, Anna Belle Fontenot, Savannah DeVillier, Rebecca Benoit and Sarah Duplechain received patches for earning All-District and All-Parish honors.
In team awards, DeVillier was named the Hitter of the Year, while Fontenot was given the Digger of the Year award.
Gracie Savoy was named the Most Improved Player, while Rebecca Benoit earned the Coaches Award.
In football, Peyton Marcantel was recognized for earning LSWA’s Class 1-A All-State team.
Will Turk earned Academic All-State honors.
Hayden Smith was the team’s Defensive MVP, while Marcantel was the Offensive MVP.
Conner Diaz was named the team’s top lineman.
Tanner Cormier earned the Leadership Award and the Joe Nagata Memorial Award.
Isaac Richard was given the Coaches Award.
Doug Summerlin earned the Burlsworth Award, a national award for “outstanding character and sportsmanship.”
Marcantel, Diaz, Cormier, Hayden Smith, Hunter Brown, Kieran Davis, Easton Coleman, Bryce Vidrine, Remi Guillory, Henry Brown, Garrett Dubois, Gus Brown, Josh Smith and Austin Stanford all received patches for earning All-District honors.
Kennedy Fruge was recognized as the football athletic trainer captain.
Dance team awards went to co-captain Mackenzie Carrier and captain Victoria Marcantel, while cheerleader co-captain Brianna Bertrand and captain Allie Pousson also received awards.
Hannah Benoit and Rebecca Benoit received plaques for their leadership as drum line captains.
Alex Dupre, Jack Parks and Simon Richard were recognized for their efforts on the cross country squad.
