Blue Jays hold sports awards ceremony

St. Edmund held its Fall Sports award ceremony Monday as volleyball, football, trainers, film, stats, rodeo, cross country, dance team, cheerleaders and drum line were all recognized.
In football, the scholastic award for the highest GPA went to Christopher Berzas.
The Captain Award was presented to Drew Zaunbrecher and Brock Bieber.
Christopher Berzas, Kaden Fontenot and Nicholas Savoy were given the Coaches Award.
Garet Hebert, Christopher Berzas, Kaden Fontenot and Brad Miller were recognized for earning Academic All-State honors.
Brad Miller was named football’s Most Valuable Player.
The Outstanding Defensive Player award went to Carter LeJeune.
Jack Miller was named football’s Outstanding Offensive Player.
Brock Bieber was awarded Joe Nagata Award.
Bieber was recognized by his peers and coaches to be an individual of the highest moral character and demonstrates the strengths, courage, integrity, selfless dedication, and ever-present fire which were so prevalent in coach Joe Negata’s life.
The Blue Jays won its second straight District 4-1A football championship with a perfect 7-0 run and finished the season with a 9-2 record.
In cross country, the outstanding male runner award went to Jack Parks.
The outstanding female runner award was presented to Avery McGee.
McGee was also recognozed as a member of the LHSAA 2018 All American Cross Country 4.0 Scholastic Team.
Dawson Ardoin was also recognized for earning Academic All-State honors.
Gabriella Bertrand was honored as the dance team captain and Aubriana York as co-captain.
Cheerleader captains Katherine Fontenot - Captain and Anna Claire Heinen were also recognozed.
Drumline captain Dustie Deshotel was honored along with co-captian Anna Belle Fontenot.
St. Edmund athletic director Andy Hargroder awarded Van Reed (Class of 1988)with the SES Historian Award for his time and dedication in recording historical events, sports record keeping, etc.
