After a last-second 20-16 loss at Rayne, the Bobcats look to regroup Friday against the Washington – Marion Indians.
“We didn’t play very well,” Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair said.
I thought we would be excited to play the first district game, but it didn’t seem like it.
“We need to refocus and play like we know we can.”
Washington – Marion (1-5) began the season with a 34-12 loss to Sam Houston before earning a 42-40 thriller over DeRidder.
The Indians then lost four straight: Leesville (48-12), Carencro (71-22), Jennings (43-16) and Crowley (44-36).
In the loss to Crowley, Indian quarterback Devin Williams completed 11-of-28 passes for 369 yards, hitting stand-out receiver William Carswell six times for 245 yards and two touchdowns.
Washington-Marion running back Ja’Than Royal gained 129 yards on 17 carries and two more touchdowns.
The Indians allowed 423 yards of total offense. Including 256 yards rushing.
“They can score points,” Trosclair said of the Washington-Marion offense. “They have a real good quarterback and two talented receivers.
“We need to keep everything in front of us on defense and hopefully get some drives on offense –that will be key for us.”
Last week, the Bobcats finished with 245 total yards, including 196 yards on the ground.
Rayne had 186 yards of total offense with 78 passing yards on 10-of-27 completions.
“I think we will move the ball this week,” Trosclair said. “But we really need to limit the penalties; those really hurt us.
“It’s time to stop making mistakes and play like we know we can.”
