Bobcats clip Raiders, 14-7

The Eunice High Bobcats rallied for two touchdowns in the second half to claim a 14-7 victory over the Northwest High Raiders in district 5-3A football action at Bobcat Stadium on Thursday.
Defense dominated the first half of the action, with neither team able to put points on the scoreboard in the first quarter.
Both teams had long drives but were unable to score.
The Bobcats had a long drive at the end of the quarter, moving from their own 24 to the 49 of the Raiders before stalling and having to punt.
The Bobcat defense forced a Raiders’ punt, but the Bobcat offense was forced to punt, with Northwest getting the ball at the Eunice 47-yard line.
The Raiders went to passing game, with quarterback Montaze Sam completing passes of 12 and 17 yards to set up a touchdown pass to Mekhi Hammond for an 18-yard touchdown.
Cameron Guillory kicked the PAT to give the Raiders a 7-0 lead.
The Bobcats responded following the kickoff, with quarterback Jaden Brasseaux connecting with Jordan Ledet on a 20-yard pass play.
Bailey Richardson added a 9-yard run and Avery Lee ran one yard for a first down at the 39. Brasseaux teamed with Ledet on a 29-yard pass to move the ball to the 10-yard line.
But with 5.9 seconds left, Austin Phillips attempted a field goal which went wide right.
The Bobcats began the second half by advancing into Northwest territory before being forced to punt the ball.
Brasseaux’s punt pinned the Raiders back inside their 5-yard line.
A fumble by the Raiders was recovered by Ledet, giving the Cats a first-and-goal at the 7-yard line of the Raiders.
Avery Lee carried three times, scoring on his third carry from three yards out.
Phillips kicked the PAT to tie the game at 7-7 with 7:25 left in the third quarter.
The Bobcat defense held the Raiders, forcing a punt with 3:51 left in the quarter.
The Bobcats would drive from their own 20 to the five-yard line of the Raiders in 12 plays.
The last three plays included three runs by Lee of eight, two, and five yards.
The five yard run was for the touchdown. Phillips made the PAT to give the Cats a 14-7 lead with 9:58 left in the game.
The Bobcat defense fought off the Raiders, who advanced down the field to the Eunice 36 before failing to get a first down on a fourth-and-eight with 4:17 left on the clock, turning the ball back over to the Eunice offense.
The Cats held the ball for over four minutes before punting the ball.
The Raiders attempted four pass plays, but all four fell incomplete, giving the Bobcats the victory.
Eunice closes out the regular season at Iota Friday night.
