Bobcats fall to Red Devils

In their final home game of the season Tuesday, the Eunice Bobcats fell 53-50 to the Port Barre Red Devils.
Port Barre got it started early in the first quarter with three three-pointers from Glen Pickney, Mehkai Franklin and J.T. Pickney. Frank Lazare also knocked down two free-throws also.
Eunice’s Terance Shilow responded with a 3-pointer of his own along with two shots made by Dedrick Vigers.
After a made layup by Fred Guillory the score was set at 13-9 with Port Barre in the lead.
Port Barre’s Mehkai Franklin exploded in the second quarter with nine points with three layups and a three-pointer.
Luke Leger followed up with a 3-pointer of his own and Frank Lazare tacked on a layup.
Eunice’s Dedrick Vigers responded with two shots and three free-throws, while Fred Guillory followed with a layup and Rondrelyn Mitchell hit a mid-range shot.
After Mitchell’s shot, the the Red Devils took a 29-20 advantage into the locker room.
Port Barre came out in the second half with three layups by Glen Pickney, Kyron Malveaux, and Franklin.
J.T. Pickney made two out of three free-throws as well.
Eunice’s Dedrick Vigers knocked down his first 3-pointer of the game as well as two more layups.
Guillory also sank a layup and Bryson Poullard nailed a three-pointer.
Rondrelyn Mitchell also tacked on two layups as well as the game was tied 39-39 as the game moved to the final period.
To start the fourth, Port Barre was carried by fouls committed by Eunice. Pickney knocked down two, Malveaux knocked down four, and J.T. Pickney knocked down two more free throws. Lazare also nailed two layups.
The Bobcats fought back as Dedrick Vigers knocked down three shots.
Shilow followed it up with a layup and Shaun Hudson knocked down a three-pointer.
With the final seconds winding down, the Bobcats had the chance to hit the game tying shot but the shot fell short and Port Barre won the game with the score at 53-50.
The scoring leader for Port Barre was Franklin with 14 points.
Eunice’s leading scorer was Vigers with 24 points.
Eunice closes the season at LaGrange on Friday.
