Bobcats remain in district lead

PRAIRIE RONDE – Eunice remained undefeated in District 5-3A with a 15-0, 20-2 sweep over the Northwest Raiders.
The district title will be determined in a doubleheader against Iota this week.
On Monday, Eunice will face the Bulldogs at Bobcat Field for Senior Day.
The district finale will be played at Iota on Thursday.
Eunice 20, NWHS 2
The Bobcats jumped out to 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Eunice cruised to a 20-2 road win over the Raiders.
Grant Fontenot walked, Austin Phillips singled and Tyler Darbonne walked to load the bases.
Seth Deshotel singled two runners home.
Luke Andrepont walked to keep the rally going, while Tyler Darbonne scored on a passed ball to push the Bobcats up, 3-0.
Dylan Darbonne drove in two runners, while Zach Suire and Jahiem Mitchell were both hit by pitches to load the bases again.
Deandre Courville hit a sacrifice fly to score Dylan Darbonne and Fontenot’s ground out pushed across the seventh run of the inning.
Eunice pitcher Price Myers kept the Raiders in check as he retired the first six hitters he faced.
Eunice added two runs in the top second when Tyler Darbonne doubled and scored on Andrepont’s single who then scored ona hit by Dylan Darbonne.
The Bobcats exploded for six runs in the top of the third frame begun when Deondre Courville was hit by a pitch and scored on a single by Phillips.
Seth Deshotel singled in Phillips, while Tyler Darbonne doubled and scored on an Raider error for a 12-0 EHS lead.
Deshotel scored on a hit by Suire, while Andrepont singled and later crossed home plate when Courville walked with the bases loaded.
Fontenot singled in Suire to push the Bobcats ahead, 15-0.
The Raiders did manage to score in the bottom of the third as Kel Oakley scored on a sacrifice fly.
Eunice sealed the win with five more runs in the top of the fourth, begun when Alex Young reached on an error, Dylan Guillory singled and Kole Grouvillia reached on an error to load the bases.
Young scored on a fielder’s choice, while Dylan Darbonne singled in Guillory for a 17-1 advantage.
Jullian Hudson was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then Trey Soileau walked to plate Grouvillia.
Dustin Leblanc’s hit scored Dylan Darbonne, while Caiden Burson singled to drive in Hudson to extend the Bobcats’ lead to 20-1.
The Raiders scored in the bottom of the fourth inning when Marquis Mayo reached on a fielder’s choice and then stole his way around the bases.
Tyler Darbonne went 2-for-2 with two doubles and three runs scored.
Phillips went 2-for-4 with a walk and a double.
Deshotel finished 2-for-3 with four RBI. Dylan Darbonne went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Eunice 15, NWHS 0
The Bobcats grabbed a 15-0 victory over Northwest in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Raiders opened the top of the first inning with Cody Leger reaching first base after being hit by a pitch from Bobcat pitcher Seth Deshotel.
Johnny Rideau drew a walk, but Deshotel retired the next two batters to end the inning.
Raider starter Chris Rideau opened the bottom of the first inning by retiring Grant Fontenot on a popfly.
Austin Phillips singled and stole two bases to continue the inning.
Tyler Darbonne was retired on a flyout, but Deshotel walked and Luke Andrepont hit a home run to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
The Raiders put a runner on base but Deshotel struck out the next three batters to end the top of the second.
The Cats added three runs in the bottom of the inning when Deondre Courville singled and stole second base with one out.
After Fontenot was retired on a flyout, Phillips singled to drive in Courville.
Tyler Darbonne walked and Deshotel drove in two runs with a double to end the inning with a 6-0 lead.
Deshotel kept the Raiders from scoring through the fourth inning before being relieved on the mound by Braiden Rider.
Marquese Mayo recorded the only Raider hit.
Deshotel threw three innings and allowed just one hit with eight strikeouts and five walks.
Rider struck out three, walked one and did not allow a hit.
The Bobcats used the bottom of their fourth inning to increase their lead with seven runs.
Tyler Darbonne homered in the inning and Zack Suire added a two-run double to extend the Eunice lead to 15-0.

Deshotel went 2-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and run scored.
Phillips finished 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and three runs scored.
Deshotel threw three innings and allowed just one hit with eight strikeouts and five walks.
