Bobcats run past Mamou

The Bobcats scored twice in the game’s first two minutes as Eunice rolled to a 49-12 win over the Mamou Green Demons.
jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter with Jordan Ledet returning the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead after Austin Phillips kicked the PAT at the 11:48 mark on the clock.
The Cats added to the lead seconds later when Deontae Gallow reovered a Demon fumble and Brodi Walker scored on a six-yard run to put Coach Paul Trosclair’s Bobcats to a 14-0 lead after Phillips nailed the PAT with 11:27 left in the first quarter.
The Green Demons struggled offensively in the early going and a short punt gave the Bobcats another opportunity midway in the opening quarter.
The Cats took advantage with Zach Suire connecting with Ledet on a 45-yard touchdown pass. Suire then added two points with a run to give the Cats a 22-0 lead.
Mamou put together a six-play drive into Bobcat territory, but a fumble by the Demons stopped their momentum as the Cats recovered the fumble.
That led to a quick Bobcat score as Ledet scored on a 20-yard run. Phillips added the PAT kick to give the Bobcats a 29-0 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Bobcats added to their score late in the quarter when Avery Lee ran 18 yards for a touchdown with 11:20 left in the first quarter to push the Eunice High lead to 36-0.
The Demons received the kickoff from the Cats and Andre Harrison turned it into a 55-yard kick return to give his team great field position. Mamou’s Dino Deshotel had runs of six and five yards to work his team to the 10-yard line, but an incomplete pass slowed the progress of the Demons.
The Demons had a 12-yard completion on a pass from Ardoin and Harrison ran 45 yards to set up a touchdown by by Deshotel to cut the lead to 36-6 late in the second quarter.
The Bobcats responded with a scoring pass from Suire to Traelyn Cooper that covered 43 yards and gave the Cats a 43-6 lead with seconds remaining before halftime.
The Demons opened the third quarter with by picking up a first down, but Isiah Darby of the Bobcats intercepted a pass to kill a Demon drive.
The Bobcats added to their lead in the third quarter behind the runing of Jacoby Collins who completed the Eunice drive with a four-yard touchdown.
The PAT kick was blocked, but the Cats held a 49-6 lead.
There was no scoring in the final quarter of play.
Eunice travels to Northwest Friday.
