The fight between the two historic rivals was to be expected when Jennings visited Eunice High Friday night to take on the No. 7 Bobcats.
The Bulldogs took an early lead against the Bobcats on a 15-yard touchdown run by Darrien Achane to take a 6-0 lead in the opening quarter.
The Bulldogs had stopped a Bobcat drive by forcing a punt after holding the Bobcats at the Eunice 44-yard line.
Jennings took possession of the football at their own 37 and used a strong running attack to advance to the Bobcat 45-yard line.
Two running plays later, Achane ran for the touchdown and the lead. The Bulldogs missed the PAT attempt.
The two rivals were unable to put any other points on the board for the remainder of the first quarter, but the Bobcats were able to drive deep into the Bulldog end of the field at the start of the second quarter on the strength of a 10-yard pass from quarterback Jadon Brasseaux to Jordan Ledet and a 7-yard pass to Josh Youngblood.
Another connection between Brasseaux and Ledet set up the Cats at the 14-yard line of the Bulldogs.
Avery Lee carried three times for 14 yards before Brasseaux managed to push across the goalline on a one-yard run.
Austin Phillips kicked the PAT to give the Bobcats a 7-6 advantage.with 9:16 left in the first half.
The Bulldogs responded quickly, though, on a 4-play drive highlighted by Achane’s 40-yard scoring run.
The Bulldogs missed the extra point but led by a 12-7 margin with seven minutes left in the second quarter.
The Bulldog touchdown gave them some momentum and their defense would stop the ensuing Bobcat drive, forcing a punt.
A penalty backed the Bulldogs back to their own 19, but the Bulldogs put together a 7-play drive capped by a 26-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kole Myers to Kamran Richard to give the Bulldogs a 20-7 lead at halftime.
Neither team could get their offense going early in the second half, but the Bulldogs would hit another big play with 5:12 left in the quarter on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Myers to Davian Madden to build a 26-7 advantage.
The Bulldogs managed to keep the Bobcats from scoring until late in the game.
The Bobcats used the running of Avery Lee to move deep into Bulldog territory in the fourth quarter.
Lee had two runs of 14 yards to move the Cats to the Jennings’ 9-yard line. But the Bulldogs held the Cats to a 33-yard field goal by Phillips with just 4:48 left in the game to make it a 26-10 final.
