Crowley, WCA win Bobcat Relays

The Crowley Ladies and Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders won the 2021 Bobcat Relays held at the Eunice High athletic complex.
WCA totaled 56 points, followed by Beau Chene (52), Opelousas Catholic (48), Church Point (43), Crowley (43), Pine Prairie (41), Ville Platte (37.5), Opelousas (37), St. Edmund (37), Eunice (36.5), Notre Dame (33), Jennings (23), Welsh (14) and Mamou (13).
Eunice High’s Dakota Garza won the 3,200 meters with a time of 11:56.47 ahead of Church Point’s Bryce Lejeune (12:01.47).
Bobcat Michael Gaspard grabbed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.81.
St. Edmund’s Alex Fontenot finished second in the long jump with a leap of 20-3 1/2.
Fontenot finished third in the triple jump at 40-7.
Blue Jay Kieran Davis grabbed second in the shot put with a throw of 38-9.
Church Point’s Lejeune finished second in the 1,600 meters (5:25.75) and ahead of Eunice’s Gabriel Manuel (5:26.15).
Church Point’s Armstead Mouton finished third in the 200 meters (24.62), while Jeremiah Roy claimed third in the 400 meters with a time of 57.59.
In the girls competition, Crowley led with 90 points, followed by Notre Dame (72), Church Point (68), Ville Platte (67), Opelousas (41), Beau Chene (37), Eunice (37), Westminster (36), Port Barre (32), Welsh (15), Jennings (14), Pine Prairie (6), St. Edmund (6) and Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (1).
Church Point’s Olivia Bundy had a strong outing as she won the 100 meters (13.03), 200 meters (28.19), 100-meter hurdles (16.54) and 300-meter hurdles (47.25).
Lady Bear Amelia Daily won the discus with a throw of 82-9.
Church Point’s Jordan fiinished second in the 1,600 meters with a time of 7:22.38).
Sierra Wimberly, Shane Parker, A’kirra Hagger and Alexa Gobert led the Lady Bears to a second place finish in the 4x400 -meter relay with a time of 4:52.00.
Eunice High’s Akashaa Hall finished second in the 1,600 meters with a time of 7:22.38.
Lady Cat Madison Freeman grabbed third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 55.44.
Madison Freeman also finished third in the discus with throw of 77-8.
Allison Freeman finished third in the javelin competition with a throw of 105-0.
The St. Landry Parish track meet will be held Tuesday at Eunice High.
