Fight finishes Bobcats - Bears game

CHURCH POINT – A fight on the court late in the game Tuesday between Church Point and Eunice and the ensuing melee could result in multiple suspensions of players from both teams.
According to EHS head coach Chad Andrepont, they are waiting for a decision from the LHSAA to determine the outcome of the game.
Eunice was ahead 52-50 with two minutes left when the fight broke out and the game was stopped.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 21-13 first quarter lead, aided by a balanced scoring attack.
Carlin Vigers and Mykal Moore both scored five points, while Avery Lee added four points and Divine Hampton drilled a trey in the quarter.
Trent White led the Bears with eight points in the period.
Eunice added to the lead wth a 17-8 second quarter surge to take a 38-21 advantage into the locker room.
Vigers led with four points, while Moore, Hampton and Fred Guillory all added three points each.
Rodney Dupuis led the Bears with four points in the period, while Brayden Andrew chipped in three points.
Church Point made a 17-10 run in the third period to close the Bobcats’ lead to 48-38.
Dupuis led Church Point with eight points, while team mate Trent White added seven points in the frame.
The Bobcats were aided by four points from Jordan Ledet and Moore drained a trey in the period.
Church Point rallied for a 12-4 run in the fourth quarter to close the gap to two points when the contest was halted by the fight.
White exploded for seven points and Tyrin McDade chipped in four points in the Bears’ comeback.
Moore scored three points in the period and finished with 14 points to lead the Bobcats on the night.
Vigers closed with 10 points.
White led Church Point with 22 points and Dupuis chipped in 12 points.
Eunice will entertain Port Barre Friday night, while Church Point travels to District 5-3A leader Northwest.

Eunice 64, CPHS 53
CHURCH POINT– The Eunice High Lady Bobcats came away with a 64-53 victory here Tuesday over the Lady Bears in district action at the Bears gym.
Head Coach Wayne Fontenot’s Lady Cats (14-10, 8-3) scored eight points in the opening quarter with Shanyia Toussaint leading the way with a trey and a driving goal. Leah Walker added two points on a field goal and a free throw.
The Lady Bears (8-18, 4-7) scored six points in the first quarter on field goals from Martisha Dugas and Montaia Citizen.
The two teams kept in close contact with each other in the second quarter, with the Lady Cats holding a 13-12 advantage. Eunice’s Stacie White led the Eunice scoring in the second quarter with eight points.
Toussaint added a three-point goal and Jesslyn Reed chipped in with a goal as the Lady Bobcats claimed a 21-18 advantage at the half. Jazmine Boudreaux chipped in for the Lady Bears with a trey and Martisha Dugas scored five points in the second quarter for the Lady Bears.
The Lady Bobcats began to pull away from the Lady Bears in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Bears by a 19-9 margin.
White led the third quarter attack for the Lady Cats with seven points, while J’lisa Thibeaux added six points and Leah Walker had seven for the Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Bears were limited to nine points in the quarter, falling behind by a 40-27 margin heading into the fourth quarter of play.
The two teams opened up the scoring in the final quarter of play, with the Lady Bears outscoring the Lady Bobcats by a 26-24 margin.
Leading scorer in the game for the Lady Bobcats was Stacie White with 23 points.
Toussaint finished with 14 points and Walker finished with 10 points.
Top scorer for the Lady Bears was Dugas with 19 points. Boudreaux finished with nine points for the Lady Bears.
