Grand Lake scored three runs in the top of the ninth and then held off St. Edmund to grab a 6-5 District 4-1 win.
After both defenses held tough for a scoreless eighth inning, the Hornets (10-13, 3-2) rallied to take the lead as Bobby Garza singled, Kris Reina reached on an error and Drake Johnson walked to load the bases.
Devin David was then hit by a pitch to plate Garza, while Reina crossed home plate on a passed ball and Johnson scored on a ground out by Kade Massey.
Trailing 6-3, the Blue Jays battled back as Dawson Ardoin was hit by a pitch, Bryce Vidrine singled and Remi Guillory walked to load the bases.
With two outs, Will Turk singled in Ardoin and then Jack Miller walked to scored pinch runner Garrett Dubois to close the margin to 6-5.
But Dylan David sealed the win for the Hornets with a strikeout to end the game.
After a scoreless first inning, the Hornets psuhed two runs across in the top of the second begun when Gavin Faulk singled, Blayne Copper walked and Garza singled to load the bases.
Copper scored on a sacrifice, while Faulk crossed home plate on a Blue Jay error.
Grand Lake pushed ahead 3-0 in the top of the third when Massey doubled and later scored.
St. Edmund closed the gap to 3-1 in the bottom of the inning when catcher Ian Dupre singled and courtesy runner Henry Brown scored on a ground out by Jack Miller.
The Blue Jays pulled closer in the bottom of the fourth when Brock Bieber walked and scored on a ground out by Bryce Vidrine.
After threatening in the fifth and sixth innings, the Blue Jays tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Jack Miller was hit by a pitch and scored on a ground out by Brad Miller.
Three Grand Lake pitchers combined for the extra inning win as the Hornets allowed five runs on 10 hits with eight strikeouts and nine walks.
St. Edmund used pitchers Brad Miller, Vidrine and Ardoin in the loss as they combined for three earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and nine walks.
St. Edmund committed four errrors in the loss.
Guillory finished 3-for-4 with a walk, while Turk went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Vidrine went 2-for-5 with a RBI.
St. Edmund (18-7, 3-1) faces South Cameron (4-12, 0-3) today as district action continues.
