Grand Lake downs Jays on Senior Night

It was Senior Night for St. Edmund Thursday but Grand Lake took two wins in Distreict 4-1A play.
The Lady Jays opened with an 11-6 run over the Lady Hornets.
But Grand Lake then took control and rolled for a 54-35 win.
Mary Beth Lafleur sparked the Lady Jays early with five first quarter points.
Grand Lake rallied with a 12-2 run to begin the second period and push ahead, 18-13.
After an early lay-up by Kinsley Marcantel, Lafleur pushed in six points to help the Lady Jays closed the gap.
Grand Lake closed the half with a 9-2 run including a last minutye trey from Macie Montie as the Lady Hornets increased their lead to 29-19.
Grand Lake pushed in 14 points in the third quarter, including a last second trey by Josie Ogea.
Lafleur hit three free throws for the only Lady Jays points in the period.
St. Edmund regrouped for an 13-11 fourth quarter battle before falling 54-35.
Three buckets by Rebecca Benoit helped the Lady Jays pull closer, 46-29 midway through the final period.
St. Edmund added a five points with a trey from Marcantel and a put-back by Marcantel.
Grand Lake sealed with win with a 6-1 run,
Lafleur led the Lady Jays with 14 points, while Benoit added eight and Marcantel chipped in seven points.
Montie and Kailey Murrell both scored 18 points for Grand Lake, while Ogea added 11 points.
St. Edmund (9-16, 2-9) visits Hamilton Christian (0-19, 0-12) Tuesday before closing the regular season at Merryville on Friday.

Grand Lake 57, SEH 27
Grand Lake exploded for a 13-2 first quarter run as the Hornets cruised to a 57-27 win over St. Edmund.
The Hornets pushed in 13 straight points including a trey by Luke McKardle.
Henry Brown drove the lane with 40 seconds left for the only Blue Jay points in the period.
St. Edmund battled in the second period as Grand Lake grabbed an 11-7 advantage.
The Hornets went on a 9-3 run early in the period, while Alex Dupre’s free throws accounted for the Blue Jay points.
After Grand Lake pushed a head by 21 points, Clay Miller responded with late back-to-back buckets to help the Jays close the margin to 24-9 at the break.
Grand Lake continued its offensive barrage with an 18-4 third quarter run.
A bucket by Ian Dupre and two free throws from Alex Dupre were the Blue Jay points in the frame.
St. Edmund regrouped for 14 points in the fourth quarter, but the Hornets sealed the win with 15 points in the frame.
Alex Dupre scored five points in the period for finish with 10 points on the night.
Tyler Fonville, Miller and Ross Fontenot aalso dded buckets for the Jays in the fourth quarter.
Kael Delcambre led Grand Lake with 20 points.
St. Edmund (2-18, 0-10) travels to Hamilton Christian (19-7, 9-0) Tuesday.
