Iota sweeps Lady Cats

In a battle between volleyball rivals, Iota grabbed a 3-0 sweep over Eunice High Tuesday as the Lady Bulldogs won 25-21, 25-9, 25-18.
Iota (9-4) travels to Jennings today, while Eunice returns to action at home Tuesday for a doubleheader against Abbeville.
The two teams battled in the first match as the game was tied 11 times.
Kills by Charly Sensat, Peyton Dubose, Dixie Guidry and Madelyn Boone helped the Lady Bulldogs keep a slim lead.
An ace by Rylea Gradney, a kill by Gabbie Mitchell combined with several errors helped Eunice rally to tie the game, 15-15.
Two spikes by Leah Hebert helped Iota move back ahead. but Eunice responded with a kill from Mitchell and several Iota miscues to force a 20-20 tie.
After a hit by Hebert and an EHS error pushed the Lady Dogs back ahead, Madison Freeman’s kill closed the gap to 22-21.
A dink by Boone, a kill from Guidry and a Lady Cat error sealed the 25-21 win for the Lady Bulldogs.
Eunice moved ahead 4-2 in the second match, aided by a kill from Gradney and an ace by Mitchell.
Iota responded with a 9-0 run, sparked by kills from Dubose, Hebert and Sensat along with several Lady Cat errors.
Mitchell’s spike closed the gap to 11-5.
Iota answered with another run including a kill by Dubose combined with three aces from Ella Jabusch and a dink from Amelie Armand.
A service error and three errant hits by Iota helped the Lady Cats close the gap to 21-9.
But after an EHS error, Iota sealed the 25-9 win with a well-placed dink from Armand and an ace by Leah Hebert.
The Lady Cats fought to keep the third match close, aided by a kill from Maci Vincent and an ace by Mitchell as Eunice moved ahead, 5-4.
A dink by Hebert and two aces by Jabusch gave Iota back the lead.
The battle continued as each team had unforced errors to keep the game close.
Iota mounted a 6-0 run, aided by kills from Guidry, Armand and Sensat to move ahead 18-9.
The Lady Cats responded with three straight points before a kill by Iota’s Sensat.
A well-placed hit by Mitchell helped Eunice close the gap to 21-14.
The Lady Bulldogs moved to game point with kills by Sensat and Dubose along with an ace by Jabusch.
But two Iota errors, along with an ace from Allison Freeman and a kill by Mitchell allowed the Lady Cats to keep the game going.
A final kill by Dubose sealed the 25-16 win for the Lady Bulldogs.
