Lady Bears rally past Lady Cats

In a battle between District 5-3A softball rivals, Eunice and Church Point fought to the finish as the Lady Bears earned a 10-8 victory.
Church Point (4-15, 3-6) scored first when Hailee Doucet walked, stole second and third and then crossed home plate on a single by Lindsi Meche.
Eunice responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning as McKenzie Guillory, Amber Arvie, Hailey Sonnier and Natalie Vidrine all scored for the Lady Cats.
Church Point scored three runs in the top of the third inning, begun when Doucet walked and scored on a hit by Calee Leger
Aline Savoie walked and Madison Patin plated the two Lady Bear base runners.
Eunice answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to grab a 6-4 lead.
Sonnier singled, Natalie Vidrine walked and Nicole Vidrine followed with a double.
Church Point exploded for five runs in the top of the fourth to move ahead, 9-6.
Hannah Stanford singled, Madison Lejeune reached on an error and Doucet singled to load the bases and all three scored.
Meche and Savoie also reached base and scored in the inning to give Church Point a three-run lead.
Dakota Dupre singled in the top of the fifth and scored Doucet’s ground out to push the Lady Bears ahead 10-6.
Eunice scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to close the margin to 10-8, begun when Sonnier singled, stole second and scored when Aguillard raced around the bases on a bunt single and an errant throw.
Eunice threatened as Amber Arvie was hit by a pitch in the sixth and Nicole Vidrine walked in the seventh but neither could score.
Eunice will travel to Port Barre Monday before entertaining Pine Praririe on Wednesday.
