Lady Bobcats earn key wins, Bobcats fall twice

The Eunice High School Lady Bobcats improved their overall record to 16-10 overall and district mark to 7-6 with a 38-28 victory over the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers in District 5-3A action at the Eunice High gym.
The Lady Bobcats dominated the early scoring with four players combining for 15 points outscored the Lady Panthers 15-8 in the first quarter.
Stacie White led the way with six points and Shanyia Toussant added four.
Leah Walker had four and Jesslyn Reed had one point. Asia George led Pine Prairie with four points in the quarter.
Pine Prairie would win the second quarter by a 7-6 margin as the Lady Cats slowed down the game to head into halftime with a 21-15 lead.
With a couple of players in foul trouble, the Lady Cats dominated the third quarter by a 10-2 margin as they headed into the final quarter with a 31-17 lead.
White, Reed, and Walker were the only players to score in the third quarter for the Lady Cats.
The Lady Panthers fought back in the fourth quarter, led by the scoring of George, Kameron Zachery Allen, and Brianna Wall to win the quarter by an 11-7 margin.
White scored four points and Reed added three points at the foul line to close out the quarter to secure the win for the Lady Bobcats.
White topped the scoring for the Lady Bobcats with 18 points.
Walker added eight points and Reed and Toussaint finished with six apiece to earn the win. George led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 10 points.
The Lady Bobcats will host Mamou 6 p.m. Thursday at the EHS gym to complete district play.

PPHS 87, Eunice 71
The Pine Prairie Panthers earned a 87-71 win over the EHS as the Bobcats fell behind by a 19-11 margin after the first quarter.
Eunice rallied back in the second quarter behind the shooting of Carlin Vigers and Divine Hampton, who combined to hit three 3-point shots to lead the way as the Bobcats outscored the Panthers 20-13 in the quarter to pull within one point of the Panthers at 32-31 for the first half.
Pine Prairie came out of halftime on fire, outscoring the Bobcats by a 28-14 margin in the third quarter. The Panthers were led by Isaiah Payne, who scored nine points in the quarter. MyKal Moore scored seven points and Kobe Doucet added five for the Bobcats, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Panthers, who entered the fourth quarter with 60-45 lead.
The Bobcats attempted to cut into the Panther lead, with Moore hitting on two goals from behind the 3-point line and Divine Hampton nailing a three-pointer from long range as well. But the Cats were unable to cut into the lead as Pine Prairie outscored the Bobcats over the final eight minutes by a 27-26 margin to claim a 87-71 victory.
Moore led the Bobcats in scoring with 18 points. Vigers added 12 and Hampton chipped in with 11. Doucet and Isaiah Darby finished with ten apiece. Payne led the Panthers in scoring with 25.

EHS girls 63, PBHS 52
PORT BARRE – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats grabbed an early lead never surrendered it in taking a 63-52 victory over the Port Barre Lady Red Devils in District 3A action last Friday.
The Lady Bobcats (16-9, 7-6) took a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter against the Lady Devils behind the scoring of Stacie White and Jesslyn Reed.
White had six points and Reed added four for the Lady Cats.
Mariah Dotsun led Port Barre (4-17, 1-12) with four points in the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Bobcats scored 15 points behind the scoring of White and Reed who combined for 11 points.
Katherine Rougeau chipped in with six points. Sylvanna Boast led the way for the Lady Red Devils with seven points.
The Lady Cats went into halftime with a 29-24 lead.
The Lady Bobcats would dominate the third quarter, outscoring Port Barre by 19-7 margin.
White led the way with nine points, with Shania Malveaux adding four points as the Lady Cats entered the fourth quarter by a 48-37 lead.
Port Barre attempted to rally in the fourth quarter behind the shooting of Boast and Mikah Compton, who combined to lead the Lady Devils to a 21-16 advantage in the final quarter. But Port Barre was unable to catch the Lady Cats.
White led the Lady Bobcats in scoring for the game with 21 points.
Reed finished with 13 points and Rougeau also hitting double digit scoring with 12 points.
Leah Walker and Shanyia Toussaint chipped in with eight and seven points, respectively.
Compton led Port Barre in scoring with 22 points, while Boast added 16 and Dotsun finishing with 10.

Port Barre 69, EHS 62
PORT BARRE –The Eunice High Bobcats battled on the Red Devils home court but Port Barre earned a 69-62 win in District 3A basketball action.
The Red Devils jumped ahead of the Bobcats in the first quarter by a 20-7 margin thanks to the scoring of Kentrell Jackson and Glenn Pickney, but the Bobcats outscored the Red Devils in the second quarter by a 12-11 margin. Divine Hampton and Carlin Vigers led the Eunice scoring with four points apiece, but the Red Devils enjoyed a 31-19 halftime lead.
Eunice battled back in the third quarter behind Hampton’s eight points, but the Red Devils kept the Bobcats at bay thanks to the scoring of Jackson and they would continue to hold off the Bobcats in the final quarter to take a 69-62 victory.
Hampton finished the game as high scorer for the Bobcats 23 points, including five from beyond the three-point arc.
Carlin Vigers scored 16 points and Mykal Moore added eight for the Bobcats. Port Barre was led in scoring by Kolby Barlow with 22-points. Jackson and Deandre Chavis finished with 14 points apiece for the Red Devils.
