There is another trophy to proudly display in the hallway case as the Eunice Lady Bobcats won their fifth straight St. Landry Parish track title Wednesday.
“We have repeated five consecutive years and the girls want to keep it over here,” Lady Bobcat head track coach Andre Vige said.
“I am very proud of what they have accomplished.”
Eunice won the meet with 158.5 points, followed by Opelousas (148), Beau Chene (127), North Central (43), Northwest (43) and Port Barre (12.5).
“It is a pride issue as these girls work hard,” the coach said.
“They want to repeat as district champions to give us a chance to make a strong run at regionals.”
Kiara White, Jyhreh Johnson, Timia Thomas and Amya Johnwell won the 4x100 relay with a time of 52.16.
White, Shanyia Toussaint, Johnwell and Johnson also won the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:49.22.

“I thought the turning point in the meet was the 300 hurdles, “ Vige said. “I knew Opelpousas was going to give us the toughest challenge.
“After doing the math, I knew it was going to be close but Kiana White came out first and her sister third.
“We sealed the deal when we got first and second in the 200.”

“We don’t want to focus on parish and district,” the coach said. “We want to see what we can do at regionals and hopefully we can reach our ultimate goal of taking a crowd to the state meet.”
