Lady Cats cruise in Oakdale tourney

The Eunice Lady Bobcats improved to 4-1 on the season with three wins in the Oakdale softball tournament.

Caroline Vienne earned the win as she went five innings, allowing one run on six hits, striking out seven and didn’t give up a walk.
Eunice jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Sophie Vidrine doubled and scored on a double by Gabby Mitchell.
The Lady Cats exploded for five runs in the third, begun when Carli Boone and Vidrine both singled and Mitchell walked to load the bases.
Boone scored when Olivia Thibodeaux reached on an error and McKenzie Guillory followed with a base clearing double.
Guillory crossed home on a single by Jailyn Pavich to push the Lady Cats ahead, 6-0.
Eunice added two more runs in the fourth inning as Sydni Lemelle walked and scored when Guillory reached on a dropped third strike.
Guillory then scored on a sacrifice by Pavich to extend the Lady Cats’ lead to 8-0.
Jennings avoided the shutout with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Eunice sealed the mercy-rule win with four runs in the fifth inning.
Mallory O’Brien walked, Boone reached on an error and both scored on a hit by Mitchell.
Lemelle advanced on a fielder’s choice and scored on a ground out by Thibodeaux.
Mitchell scored the final run when she crossed home plate on a wild pitch for the Lady Cats’ 12-1 win.
Eunice tallied 10 hits on the day as Mitchell (3-for-3, 3 RBIs) and Sophie Vidrine (2-for-4, 2 RS) had multiple hits.
EHS 15, Pickering 0
Pavich allowed just two hits in the Lady Cats’ 15-0 mercy-rule win over Pickering.
Eunice jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, begun when Vidrine doubled an scored on a hit by Mitchell, who later scored on a error.
The Lady Cats added five runs in the bottom of the second, begun when Boone and Vidrine both singled and Lemelle was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Mitchell reached on an error that scored Vidrine and Lemelle.
Thibodeaux singled in Mitchell, while Guillory’s hit plated Thibodeaux for a 7-0 Lady Cat lead.
Eunice exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third to seal their mercy-rule win of the tournament.
Alissa Pate and O’Brien reached on errors to begin the inning.
Pate scored when Boone advanced on another Pickering miscue and Vidrine followed with a two-RBI double to drive in O’Brien and Boone.
Lemelle was hit by a pitch and Mitchell reached on an error to keep the rally going.
Thibodeaux advanced on another error that allowed Vidrine and Lemelle to score and extend the lead to 12-0.
Guillory singled in Mitchell, while Thibodeaux scored on a ground out by Pavich.
The game’s final run came when O’Brien reached on an error that allowed courtesy runner Harli Turner to score.
Eunice racked up ten hits led by Vidrine (3-for-3, 3 RBIs, 3 RS), Mitchell (2-for-3, 3 RBIs, 3 RS) and McKenzie Guillory (2-for-3, 3 RBIs).

EHS 10, Pitkin 8
Olivia Thibodeaux went 3-for-4 with five RBIs to help the Lady Cats earn an 10-8 win over Pitkin.
Thibodeaux drove in runs on a single in the first, a home run in the fifth, and a single in the sixth.
Caroline Vienne earned the win as she allowed four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Pavich started the game, allowing four hits and four runs with one strike out.
Eunice finished with 11 hits, led by Thibodeaux and Guillory (2-for-4, 3 RBIs).
