Lady Cats cruise to win

The Lady Bobcats exploded for 12 runs in the second inning as Eunice High earned a 16-0 mercy-rule District 5-3A win over Port Barre.
The Lady Cats (7-9, 2-8) pushed across four runs in the bottom of the first frame, begun when Alissa Pate walked and scored on a hit by Natalie Vidrine.
Mckenzie Guillory doubled and later scored when Cassie Thomas reached on an error that also allowed Vidrine to score.
Thomas scored on a ground out by Jailyn Pavich to increase the Lady Cats’ lead to 4-0.
After Port Barre’s only hit of the game in the second inning, Eunice pushed the contest out of reach with 12 runs in the bottom of the inning.
With one out, Pate and Guillory both reached on Lady Devil errors and Natalie Vdrine singled to load the bases.
Thomas then drove in Pate and Guillory for a 6-0 advantage.
Olivia Thibodeax doubled in Natalie Vidrine, while Thomas scored on a ground-out by Nicole Vidrine.
Pavich followed with a double to centerfield to plate Thibodeaux for a 9-0 Eunice lead.
Courtesy runner Jeslyn Edwards scored on a double by Carli Boone, while Kelsea Aguillard walked and crossed home plate on a double by Guillory.
Pate walked and Natalie Vidrine’s triple then pushed across Pate and Guillory as the Lady Cats moved ahead, 14-0.
Thomas singled in Vidrine, while Thibodeaux doubled to right field to plate Thomas to complete the 16-0 explosion.
Pavich earned the one -hit win as she struck out two and an walked one over three innings.
Natalie Vidrine finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored.
Thibodeaux went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Guillory went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Thomas finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored.
Eunice will take on Northside Christian on Monday before visiting Pine Prairie (12-9, 6-2) for a district game on Tuesday.
