The Eunice High Lady Bobcats earned a 58-44 home victory over the Church Point Lady Bears in District 5-3A basketball action.
The Lady Cats took an early lead in the first quarter, taking a 9-2 lead with 5:06 left in the quarter, but the Lady Bears battled back late in the quarter to close the scoring gap to 16-11.
Jasmine Boudreaux led the way for the Lady Bears with six points.
Leading the way in the opening quarter for Eunice was Shanyia Toussaint with six points.
The two teams battled each other in the second quarter, with the Lady Bobcats fighting to hold on to win the quarter by a 10-9 margin.
Boudreaux led the way for Church Point with five points, while Stacie White led the Eunice scoring in the quarter with six points.
The Lady Bobcats held a 26-20 lead heading into halftime.
The Lady Bobcats kept the Lady Bears at bay in the third quarter by a 10-8 margin.
White led the way for Eunice with six points as the Lady Cats, who entered the fourth quarter with a 36-28 lead.
The Lady Bobcats would extend their lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Bears by a 22-16 margin to claim the win.
White scored 11 points and Shania Malveaux added five points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
White finished with a game-high 28 points for the Lady Cats.
Toussaint and Malveaux finished the game with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Leah Walker, Robbi Palmer, and Jesslyn Reed scored two points apiece to contribute to the victory.
Boudreaux topped the scoring for Church Point (10-13 overall 4-4 in district) with 15 points.
Martina Citizen and TraNascia Citizen scored nine points apiece for the Lady Bears.
Eunice (14-10 overall, 5-6 in district play) travels to Port Barre (4-16 overall, 1-1 in district) Friday night.

CPHS 73, Eunice 67
A fourth quarter rally by the Eunice Bobcats fell short by six points as the Church Point Bears hung on to claim a 73-67 victory in District 5-3A basketball action.
The Bobcats jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening five minutes of the game thanks to the play of Divine Hampton, who finished with six points in the first quarter.
But the Bears managed to pull even with the Bobcats at 11-11 by the end of the quarter.
The Bears continued their momentum into the second quarter behind the play of Leon Smith, who led the Bears with 12 points as they began to pull away from the Bobcats, outscoring them by a 22-9 margin in the quarter to take a 33-20 lead into halftime.
The Bears continued their strong play at the start of the third quarter, going on a 10-6 run in the opening five minutes of the quarter, building their lead to 43-26.
The Bobcats battled back late in the quarter, pulling within 13 points at 56-43 by the end of the quarter.
Mykal Moore sparked the scoring for the Cats with eight points along with Hampton, who added five points.
Tralon Chachere topped the Bears in scoring with 13 points in the quarter.
The Bobcats began to cut into the Bears’ lead in the fourth quarter, pulling within ten points early in the opening minute of play.
Carlin Vigers scored 11 points and Moore added seven, with each hitting two three-point goals. The Bobcats would close the gap to seven points at 69-62 with just over two minutes remaining in the game and pulled within 71-67 with 12 seconds left in the game. But a goal by Trent White in the final seconds sealed the win for the Bears.
Vigers and Moore led the scoring for the Bobcats with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Hampton finished with 13 points, while Isaiah Darby added ten points and Dylan Miller contributing eight.
Trent White led the Bears in scoring with 23 points. Chachere added 21 and Leon Smith had 18 for the Bears.

Crowley 56, Eunice 45
CROWLEY – The Lady Bobcats fell behind the Crowley High Ladies in the opening quarter by a 10-2 margin in District 5-3A play this past Friday, but rallied in the second quarter to pull within an 18-16 deficit at the half, before falling to Crowley by a 56-45 decision.
The Lady Bobcats topped the Crowley Ladies by a 14-8 margin in the second quarter, thanks to the scoring of Shania Malveaux and Stacie White with six points apiece.
Jesslyn Reed added two points for the Lady Cats.
But Crowley’s Tione Breaux would lead the Ladies to a 17-13 third quarter to pull away from the Lady Bobcats.
Breaux scored 11 points in the third quarter and Imani Jackson added four points for the Ladies to extend the Crowley lead to 35-29 heading into the fourth quarter.
Shanyia Toussaint led Eunice with five points in the third quarter, while White, Leah Walker, Reed, Malveaux scored two apiece.
Breaux continued her hot play into the fourth quarter, leading Crowley with eight points.
Marcy Miller added five points to keep the Lady Bobcats at bay in the final quarter.
White and Walker each contributed six points in the fourth quarter for the Lady Cats, but Eunice was unable to overcome Crowley’s second half surge.
Breaux finished as Crowley’s leading scorer for the game with 18 points. White led Eunice in scoring with 16 points.
