Lady Cats drop district games

The Lady Cats fell to 1-3 in District 5-3A with a pair of losses to rivals Port Barre and Iota.
Iota 11, Eunice 2
Eunice grabbed an early 1-0 lead, but Iota took over as the Lady Bulldogs rolled in an 11-2 win.
The Lady Cats scored first when Natalie Vidrine singled and scored on a hit by Cassie Thomas.
The Lady Bulldogs (7-3, 2-0) exploded for four runs in the top of the second, begun when Dixie Guidry singled and scored on a hit by Maci Wright.
Ameille Armand followed with a home run over the centerfield fence to push Iota ahead, 3-1.
Greta Fontenot singled and scored on a double by Madelyn Link as the Lady Dogs increased the margin to 4-1.
Iota added a run in the top of the third when Kylie Welch singled and scored on a hit by Guidry.
The Lady Bulldogs moved ahead 6-1 with a run in the top of the fifth when Welch singled and scored on a hit by Charly Sensat.
Iota extended its lead to 9-1 as the Lady Bulldogs scored three more runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Wright opened with a home run.
Fontenot doubled, Link singled and Welch cleared the bases with a triple to left field.
Eunice closed the margin to 9-2 in the bottom of the inning when Cassie Thomas hit an inside the park home run.
Iota added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win.
Breyona Dugal was hit by a pitch and scored on a hit by Wright, who then crossed home plate on a single by Britney Leckelt.
Fontenot earned the win for the Lady Bulldogs as she allowed two earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and a walk.
Wright finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored, Link went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored and Welch finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Thomas finished 3-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored to lead the Lady Cats.

PORT BARRE – The Lady Devils scored the final seven runs of the game as Port Barre grabbed a 11-3 win over the Lady Bobcats.
Eunice took an early lead when Olivia Thibodeaux singled up the middle in the top of the first inning and scored on a sacrifice by Natalie Vidrine.
Port Barre (3-8, 2-2) tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Hailey Martinez singled and scored on a ground out by Kennedi Aymond.
After two scoreless innings, the Lady Devils pushed three runs across in the bottom of the fourth inning as Port Barre moved ahead, 4-1.
Emma Crow singled and scored on a hit by Caitlyn Lanclos.
Aymond singled to center and courtesy runner Malani Francis and Lanclos later scored on a wild pitch.
The Lady Cats responded with two runs in the top of the fifth inning as Jailyn Pavich singled and courtesy runner Jeslyn Edwards then stole both second and third base before scoring on a hit by Kelsea Aguillard.
Aguillard stole second and then scored on a hit by Thibodeaux as Eunice closed the gap to 4-3.
Port Barre quickly answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame, begun when Maci Bergeron doubled and scored on a hit by Crow.
Aymond singled to keep the Lady Devil rally going as Lanclos doubled in Crow to give Port Barre a 6-3 advantage.
Bella Bass singled and Lanclos stole home to push the Lady Devils up by four runs.
Port Barre sealed the win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, begun when Hannah Speyrer walked and later scored on a bunt by Maci Bergeron.
Martinez walked to keep the rally going and Crow tripled to clear the bases and push the Lady Devils up, 10-3.
Port Barre added a run when Lanclos single in Crow for an 11-3 advantage.
After stranding Aguillard in the third and Alissa Pate in the sixth, the Lady Cats’ seventh inning rally also fell short.
Caroline Vienne singled but courtesy runner Edwards was caught stealing second base.
Aguillard singled, advanced on an error but was left at second as the game ended on consecutive infield line-outs.
Aguillard finished 3-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored to lead the Lady Cats.
Thibodeaux went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
Crow went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored for the Lady Devils.
Lanclos finished 3-for-4 with three RBI as Port Barre pushed across 13 runs on 11 hits.
Crow earned the complete game win as she struck out five and allowed three earned runs and limited the Lady Cats to nine hits.
Eunice is scheduled to entertain Crowley 5:30 p.m. today as district play continues.
