Lady Cats fall to Northwest

PRAIRIE RHONDE – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats dropped a 60-43 decision Monday in Class 3A regional playoff action at Northwest High School.
The No. 14 Lady Bobcats (18-11) got off to a slow start in the first quarter, scoring only three points on a 3-point field goal by Stacie White.
The No. 3 Lady Raiders (28-3) scored eight points to take an 8-3 lead as Khali Malone led the Lady Raiders in the quarter with four points.
The Lady Bobcats kept themselves in the game in the second quarter, with White scoring five points and Katherine Rougeau adding three.
Leah Walker and Shania Malveaux contributing two goals apiece as the Lady Cats pulled within 21-15 at the half.
The Lady Bobcats kept the game within reach in the third quarter with Jesslyn Reed scoring six points and White adding five points, actually closing the lead to three points at one point.
But the Lady Raiders managed to outscore the Lady Cats by a 17-14 margin in the third quarter to take a 38-29 lead into the final quarter.
Tashianna Fontenot and Malone would lead the way for Northwest in the fourth quarter with Fontenot scoring eight points and Malone chipping in with seven points.
White scored seven points for the Lady Cats and Rougeau added three, but Northwest pulled away to outscore the Lady Cats by a 22-14 margin in the quarter to claim the victory.
Malone claimed top scoring honors for the Lady Raiders with 21 points. Fontenot finished the game with 18 points.
Stacie White led the Lady Cats in scoring with 20 points. Walker, Rougeau, and Reed finished with six points apiece.
Northwest will entertain No. 6 Albany today in the quarterfinals.
