Lady Cats grab win over Crowley, Bobcats fall

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats dominated the second half of play against the Crowley High Ladies to claim their first district win of the season by a 47-34 margin in 5-3A action at the Bobcat gym.
The two teams went back and forth in the first quarter with the Lady Bobcats holding a 10-9 lead.
Stacie White led the scoring with six points. Shania Malveaux and Leah Walker had two points apiece for the Lady Cats in the opening quarter.
Lilly Hoffpauir hit a three-point goal and Tione Breaux added two points to lead the Crowley.
The two teams continued their back and forth play in the second quarter.
Breaux led the Ladies with three field goals and Hoffpauir added four points in the quarter.
Shanyia Toussaint nailed a 3-point field goal and added two free throws for the Lady Cats in the second quarter. White had four points for the Lady Cats, who went into halftime with a 24-22 lead.
The Lady Bobcats carried their second quarter momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Ladies from Crowley 13-9.
Toussaint scored five points in the quarter and and White added six points for Eunice. Breaux led Crowley with five points.
The Lady Bobcats entered the fourth quarter with a 37-31 lead and quickly added to it when Jesslyn Reed hit two free throws and added a field goal on a rebound putback.
White added a field goal from beyond the 3-point arc and added two driving layups to put the game away with a 47-34 victory.
White led the scoring for Eunice with 21 points. Toussaint added 13 and Reed had six.
Walker chipped in with four points and Malveaux finished with three.
Breaux topped Crowley in scoring with 14 points and Miller added eight points.
Hoffpauir had seven points for Crowley.
The Lady Bobcats (10-6, 1-2) travel to Church Point Friday before entertaining Port Barre on Tuesday.
Crowley dropped to 8-7 overall, with a district mark of 1-1.

Crowley 73, Eunice 64
The Bobcats fell 73-64 to Crowley in the District 5-3A opener.
Coach Chad Andrepont’s Bobcats started well against the Gents, holding an 18-16 edge at the end of the first quarter as Carlin Vigers led the Cats with eight points.
But the Gents would respond by outscoring the Bobcats by a 23-10 margin in the second quarter to take a 39-28 advantage at the half.
The Gents dominated the quarter by grabbing rebound and getting the ball quickly to their guards for easy scores. Crowley used their passing skills and their speed on their way to a 39-28 halftime lead.
The Bobcats battled back in the third quarter, cutting the Crowley lead to 39-34 thanks to the effort from Mykal Moore, who scored eight points before suffering an injury that kept him out of action for the remainder of the contest.
Vigers scored three points in the early going of the fourth quartrer as the Cats cut the Crowley lead to 59-54 with just over five minutes left in the game on a driving layup by Keithan Monday.
But Crowley’s Josh Burnett scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to extend the Gents lead to 67-64 with two minutes left to claim the 73-64 victory.
Burnett topped the scoring for the Gents with 31 points. Braedon Beard added 15 and Chris Lewis 10 for the Gents.
Vigers topped the scoring for the Bobcats with 19 points.
Moore added 13 points, while Isaiah Darby and Monday finished with eight points apiece.
Jordan Ledet had six points for the Bobcats.
