ELTON – The Eunice Highl Lady Bobcats dropped a 58-50 decision to the Lady Bulldogs of Jennings as they completed play at the Elton High Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead by outscoring the Lady Bobcats by a 14-9 margin in the first quarter.
Leading the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs was Tyrannie Withers with six points.
Thmyra Pattum added four points for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bobcats were led by Jesslyn Reed with four points. Shanyia Toussaint scored three points in the opening quarter for the Lady Cats.
Jennings outscored the Lady Bobcats by a 15-12 margin in the second quarter for a 29-21 lead at the half.
Lyric Deshotel led Jennings in the second quarter with eight points.
Stacie White led the scoring with seven points for the Lady Cats. Reed added three points for the Lady Cats.
Jennings kept the pressure on the Lady Bobcats with a 17-9 third quarter advantage.
Withers led the scoring in the third quarter with six points and Jaz Sonnier added five points for the Lady Bulldogs.
White topped the third quarter scoring for Eunice with four points. Toussaint contributed three points as Jennings extended their lead to 46-30.
The Lady Bobcats rallied in the fourth quarter to outscore the Lady Bulldogs by a 20-10 margin.
White and Shania Malveaux scored six points apiece in the quarter to lead the way, but the Lady Cats fell short in their late comeback, falling eight points short.
Leading scorers for Jennings were Pattum and Deshotel with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
White finished with 15 points to lead the Lady Cats for the game.
Reed and Malveaux scored 11 apiece for the Lady Bobcats, while Leah Walker contributed 10 points for the Lady Cats.
EHS 57, Elton 52
The Lady Bobcats improved their record to 7-1 with a 57-52 victory over the Lady Indians in the Elton tournament.
The two teams were tied at the end of the first quarter at 11-11.
White and Shania Malveaux led the Lady Bobcats in the opening quarter with White leading the way with seven points, including a 3-point field goal.
Malveaux had two field goals.
Elton outscored the Lady Bobcats in the second quarter to take a 23-21 lead into halftime.
Summer Ceaser had four points to lead the Lady Indians and Maycie Fuselier added three points.
White led the Lady Cats with five points, which included another 3-point field goal. Toussaint and Reed chipped with two points apiece for Eunice.
The Lady Bobcats scored 17 points while holding Elton to 14 in the third quarter to build a slim one-point lead at 38-37.
Leah Walker scored six points in the quarter for the Lady Bobcats to support White, who added a field from beyond the 3-point arc along with a two-point goal and hitting two-of-three from the foul line.
Malveaux and Katherine Rougeau added a goal apiece for the Lady Cats.
In the fourth quarter, White scored 10 points to lead the Lady Cats to a 19-16 lead, which gave the Lady Cats the victory.
Malveaux added three points, while Walker, MaKayia Ceasar, and Reed scored two points apiece to support White, giving the Lady Cats a 57-52 victory.
White led all scorers in the game with 29 points. Malveaux and Walker finished with nine and eight points, respectively.
Summer Ceaser led Elton in scoring with 16 points.
Jamaica James added 15 points and Maycie Fuselier had nine for the Lady Indians.
