Lady Cats rally in thriller

Eunice High’s Katelyn Joubert ripped a double to score Destiny Edwards in the bottom of the seventh as the Lady Bobcats earned a 8-7 walk-off win Tuesday over the Port Barre Lady Devils.
Trailing 7-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Cats began their comeback surge.
Joubert doubled, Amber Arvie was hit by a pitch and Morgan Domingue singled to load the bases.
Cassidy Thomas then blasted a grand-slam home run over the centerfield wall to force a 7-7 tie and set up the next inning’s thrilling finish.
Port Barre (1-12, 0-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when catcher Lexie Daville singled and courtesy runner Katherine Lanclos scored on a Lady Cat error.
Eunice tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Domingue dounled and scored on a hit by Thomas.
The Lady Devils retook a 2-1 lead in the top of the third as Rebecca Stellly singled and scored on a passed ball.
Port Barre added four more runs in the top of the fourth to move ahead, 6-1.
Daville doubled and scored on a hit by Kenzi Hebert.
Hebert scored on a hit up the middle by Grace Chelette.
Stelly was hit by a pitch an then Bailey Wyble cleared the bases with a triple to push the Lady Devile up by five runs.
Port Barre pushed ahead 6-1 in the top of the fifth when Davile singled and courtesy runner Lanclos scored on a double by Hebert.
The Lady Cats began its comeback with two runs in the bottom of the fifth when Thomas singled and scored on a Lady Devil error.
Jesslyn Reed singled and scored on a sacrifice by Destiny Edwards to close the gap to 7-3.
Arvie earned the complete-game win as she struck out four, walked three and allowed seven runs on 14 hits with three hit batters.
Daville led Port Barre with a 4-for-4 performance.
Thomas led Eunice with a 3-for-3, five RBI day, while Domingue went 2-for-3 and Jubert went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI.
The Lady Cats (3-8, 1-1) continue District 5-3A play today at Pine Prairie before participating the Sulphur tournament this weekend.
