Lady Cats win seventh straight parish title

The Eunice Lady Bobcats won their seventh straight parish title and the Bobcats won their first won second in the past four years as Eunice High swept the 2019 St. Landry Parish track meet.
The Lady Cats scored 128 points to edge Westminster Christian Academy’s 123 points.
Northwest finished third with 90 points, followed by Opelousas (75), Beau Chene (69), North Central (45), Port Barre (28), St. Edmund (8) and Academy of the Sacred Heart (2).
The Lady Cats won the 4x100-meter relay as A’maya Johnwell, Zakayla Citizen, Shanyia Toussant and Leah Walker combined for a time of 51.18.
Johnwell, Jesslyn Reed, Toussaint and Walker won the 4x200 meter relays with time of 1:48.91.
Zakayla Citizen, Madison Freeman, Toussaint and Reed combined to finish second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:24.52.
Walker won the 100 meter-dash with a time of 12.62.
Walker also won the 200-meters with a 26.10 finish.
Johnwell finished third in the 200 eters with a time of 27.30.
Stacie White finished second in the high jump witha leap of 4-04 ahead of teammate Aalyiah Warren’s 4-02.
Katherine Rougeau won the javelin competition with a throw of 112-02.
Shanyia Toussaint finished second in the long jump with a leap of 15-00.
J’Lisa Thibeaux finished third in the shot put with a toss of 30-11.
St. Edmund’s Mary Beth Lafleur finished second in the javelin with a toss of 108-05.
The Bobcats won the boys competition with 117 points, followed by Opelousas (111), Northwest (91), North Central (88), Beau Chene (78), Opelousas Catholic (45), Westminster Christian Academy (31), Port Barre (27) and St. Edmund (1).
Eunice’s Javondre Edwards won the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.87 finish.
Edwards finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.01.
Jordan Ledet finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.33.
Ledet finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.17.
Travis Cole Thomas finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.54.
Isiah Darby finished third in the high jump at 5-10.
Treylon Cooper finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 39.08-5.
Eunice finished second in the 4x100-meter relay as Devin Richardson, Cooper, Simeon Ardoin and Ledet combined for a time of 44.25.
Jeoul Hill, Cooper, Edwards and Ledet finished second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.49.
Eunice finished second in the 4x800-meter relay as Michael Gaspard, Edward Hill, Travis Thomas and John Mayo combined for a time of 9.24.05.
