Lady Jays cruise to wins

LAKE CHARLES – The Lady Jays exploded for 13 runs in the first inning as St. Emund cruised to a 16-1 mercy-rule victory over Lake Charles College Prep.
Jaedyn Soileau walked, Karleigh Soileau singled to open the game, while Kinsley Marcantel and Mary Beth Lafleur followed with back-to-back doubles.
Anna Bell Fontenot singled and Kenndy Ardoin followed with a double.
Three consecutive walks by Elizabeth McGee, Rebecca Benoit and Kaitlyn Lacour completed the first time through the Lady Jay lineup without an out.
A single by Jaedyn Soileau and a walk by Karleigh Soileau helped push the Lady Jay lead to 9-0.
After an out, Marcantel singled and Fontenot reached on an error and McGee completed the offensive barrage with a single up the middle as St. Edmund pushed ahead, 13-0.
The Lady Jays added two more runs in the top of the second when Jaedyn Soileau doubled, Marcantel singled and they both scored for a 15-0 St. Ed advantage.
In the top of the third, Sarah Duplechain walked and later scored the final Lady Jay run.
Lake Charles avoided the shut out when D. Mason walked and scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third frame.
Ardoin and Rebecca Benoit combined for the no-hit win in the circle for the Lady Jays as the duo struck out three and walked three over the three innings.
Marcantel and Fontenot both finished 4-for-4, while Jaedyn Soileau went 2-for-2 with a walk to help lead the Lady Jay offense.
St. Ed’s 19, CHS 4
CENTERVILLE – St. Edmund rolled to a 19-4 mercy-rule win over Centerville in a non-district road contest.
The Lady Jays exploded for seven runs in the first inning, begun when Jaedyn Soileau singled, Karleigh Soileau walked and Kinsley Marcantel was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Courtesy runner Amber Reed scored on a pop up by Mary Beth Lafleur, while Karleigh Soileau scored on a sacrifice by Jacee Cobb.
The Lady Jays pushed ahead 3-0 when courtesy runner Anne Marie Dubois scored on a passed ball.
Fontenot walked, Ardoin doubled and McGee walked to load the bases.
Fontenot scored on a passed ball before Kaitlyn Lacour walked to load the bases for the third time in the inning.
Jaedyn Soileau then singled in Ardoin for a 5-0 Lady Jay advantage.
Karleigh Solieau drove in McGee, while Lacour advanced home to push the Lady Jays ahead, 7-0.
St. Edmund kept the offensive barrage going in the second inning as the Lady Jays scored five more runs.
Cobb was hit by a pitch, Fontenot walked and ardoin bunted to load the bases.
McGee then singled in Cobb, while Lacour drove in Fontenot for a 9-0 Lady Jay lead.
Jaedyn Soileau singled in Ardoin, while Karleigh Soileau grabbed a bases loaded walk to plate McGee for an 11-0 margin.
Lacour then scored when Marcantel bunted to the Lady Bulldog pitcher.
Centerville responded with four runs in the bottom of the second to close the gap to 12-4.
Avery Brasseaux singled, Makenna McDaniel was hit by a pitch and Alexis Estay walked to load the bases.
Dymond Darden singled in Brasseaux and then Naveah McDaniel walked to plate Makenna McDaniel.
Chelsi Hebert doubled in Estay, while Naveah McDaniel scored on a wild pitch to close the gap to eight runs.
St. Edmund then sealed the win with seven runs in the top of the third frame, begun when Fontenot walked, Ardoin was hit by a pitch and Rebecca Benoit singled to load the bases.
Lacour singled in Fontenot, while Jaedyn Soileau followed with a RBI hit to score Reed for a 14-4 lead.
Karleigh Soileau singled in Benoit before Marcantel drew a bases-loaded walk to push in Lacour.
Cobb singled in Jaedyn Soileau, while Karleigh Soileau scored on a sacrifice by Fontenot.
Ardoin later drove in Marcantel to push the Lady Jays ahead, 19-4.
The Lady Bulldogs attempted to keep the game going in the bottom of the inning when Brasseaux, Makenna McDaniel and Estay drew walks but the game ended when Kennedy Ardoin struck out Ava Calais.
Jaedyn Soileau finished 4-for-4, Karleigh Soileau went 2-for-2 with two walks, Ardoin went 3-for-3 and Lacour finished 2-for-3 to help lead the Lady Jays.
Jaedyn Soileau and Ardoin combined for the win as the duo limited Centerville to four hits with six walks and five strikeouts.
St. Edmund visits Grand Lake today for a District 4-1A contest.
