The rivalry between St. Edmund and Sacred Heart of Ville Platte continyed Thursday as the Lady Trojans rolled to a 11-4 win over the Lady Jays in non-district softball action.
Sacred Heart (7-3) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, begun when Caroline Fontenot singled and scored on a sacrifice by Karli Fontenot.
Sydney Fontenot singled and scored on a hit by Olivia Hernandez for a 2-0 advantage.
Emylise Bergeron walked before Hernandez scored on a hit by Camille Solieau.
Erin Fontenot singled in Bergeron for a 4-0 Lady Trojan lead.
St. Edmund’s Jaedyn Soileau walked and Kellie Richard ripped a double to start the rally in the bottom of the inning.
Soileau scored on a sacrifice by Gabby Fontenot, while Anna Bell Fontenot doubled in Richard to close the gap to 4-2.
Sacred Heart added a run in the top of second when Karlie Fontenot tripled and scored on a sacrifice from Olivia Hernandez.
The Lady Jays responded with a run in the bottom of the inning as Mary Beth Lafleur singled and scored on a sacrifice from Jaedyn Solieau.
Sacred Heart pushed ahead 6-3 with a run in the top of the third when Erin Fontenot singled and scored on a hit by Sydney Soileau.
The Lady Trojans pushed ahead, 7-3 in the fourth when Sydney Fontenot reached on an error and scored on a hit by Karlie Fontenot.
Sacred Heart added two more runs in the sixth frame, begun when Caroline Fontenot singled and scored on a hit by Karlie Fontenot.
Olivia Hernandez reached on a fielder’s choice and crossed the plate on a hit by Madison Hernandez to push the Lady Trojans ahead, 9-3.
Sacred Heart added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh as Sydney Soileau singled and scored on a double by Caroline Fontenot, who scored on a hit by Sydney Fontenot.
St. Edmund scored a run in the bottom of the seventh as Allison Lafleur singled, stole second and later and crossed home plate on a passed ball.
Mary Beth Lafleur (2-for-3) and Richard (2-4, RBI) led the Lady Jay hitters.
Caroline Fontenot (3-for-5), Karlie Fontenot (3-4, Sac.) and Sydney Fontenot (2-for-4, Sac.) led the Lady Trojan hitters.
St. Edmund (2-5) entertains Westgate at 4 p.m. Monday, while Sacred Heart visits Kinder.
