Lady Jays grab key wins

The Lady Jays opened the week with a pair of crucial wins, including a 7-6 thriller over Westminster Christian Academy.
St. Edmund (8-10, 2-1) travels to WCA today as District 5-1A action continues.
The Lady Crusaders grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Kassie Stalling singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Destiny Ledoux.
The Lady Jays tied the game in the bottom of the third when Olivia Clark tripled and scored on a hit by Abby Miller.
St. Edmund exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Lady Jays moved ahead, 7-1.
Clark walked to begin the rally, stole second and scored on a hit by Mary Beth Lafleur.
Miller walked and later scored on a double steal that moved Lafleur to second.
Lafleur scored on a hit by Maggie Larriviere, while Gabby Fontenot doubled and later stole home.
The Lady Jays increased its lead when Kinsley Marcantel walked and Olivia McDaniel added a two-RBI single.
WCA answered with three runs in the top of the sixth, begun when Ledoux walked, while both Kaitlyn Peuerin and Brianna Winston both singled to load the bases.
Emily Mouton was hit by a pitch that pushed in Ledoux, while Isabel Armand’s single drove in two more runs.
The Lady Crusaders continued their comeback in the top of the seventh when Jones singled and scored on a triple by Ledoux.
WCA closed the margin to 7-6 when Ledoux scored on a hit by Peuerin before the Lady Jay defense recorded the final two outs.
Larriviere pitched 5.1 innings, striking out two and allowed one earned run on three hits.
Clark finished the game as she struck out three, walked one and allowed five earned runs on six hits,
Fontenot went 4-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Lady Jay offense.

SEH 5, Iota 4
The Lady Jays exploded for four runs in the sixth inning as St. Edmund rallied for a 5-4 win over Iota on Monday.
Kelli Richard doubled and scored on a double by Larrivere.
Fontenot and a single by Marcantel pushed across the two Lady Jays.
Marcantel scored on a hit by Olivia Clark to give the Lady Jays a 5-3 advantage.
Iota scored a run in the top of the seventh when Becca Fantroy walked, advanced on an error, stole thrid and then crossed home on a hit by Aymslee Johnson.
After a hit by Shydee Johnson, the Lady Jay defense stiffened to halt the Lady Bulldog rally.
Iota grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Teri Johnson singled and Rebecca Fantroy followed with a home run.
St. Edmund closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth as Larriviere doubled and scored on a double by Marcantel.
The Lady Bulldogs added a run in the top of the fifth when Allyson Klein singled and scored on a two-out hit by Shydee Johnson.
Lady Jay starter Larriviere pitched five innings as she struck out three, walked two and allowed three earned runs on six hits.
Olivia Clark finished the game as she walked two and allowed one earned run on two hits.
Larriviere went 3-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and two runs scored.
Marcantel finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.
