VILLE PLATTE – St. Edmund went 2-1 in the Turkey Tournament as the Lady Jays rolled to a 48-30 win Wednesday night over the host Sacred Heart Lady Trojans.
St. Edmund jumped out to a 16-9 first quarter lead, sparked by four points from both Kinsley Marcantel and Rebecca Benoit along with three points from Tanzy Miller and Mary Beth Lafleur.
Amanda Bergeron led Sacred Heart with four points.
The Lady Trojans answered with a 9-6 second quarter run to close the gap to 22-18 at the break.
Blair Lafleaur hit four free throws to spark Sacred Heart.
Marcantel scored four points for the Lady Jays, while Savannah DeVillier hot her second bucket of the game.
St. Edmund out-scored SHVP 9-6 in the third frame as the Lady Jays pushed ahead, 31-24 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
DeVillier led SEH with six points in the period, while Mary Beth Lafleur added two free throws and Jill Simpson added another.
Sacred Heart’s Lafleaur, Annabeth Briley and Amanda Bergeron all scored two points in the period.
The Lady Jays sealed the win with a 17-6 surge in the fourth quarter.
DeVillier scored four points in the period to finish with 14 points.
Lafleur, Marcante and Simpson all hit treys in the quarter for the Lady Jays.
Marcantel finished with 11 points, while Lafleur added eight points.
Bergeron scored four points for the Lady Trojaans to finish with 12 points.
St. Edmund will travel to Gueydan Tuesday night before heading to the Elton tournament on Thursday.
