Lady Patriots down Lady Cats

The Lady Bobcats kept the game close before North Vermilion broke it open as the Lady Patriots downed Eunice 8-2 in District 4-4A play.
Eunice (14-3) entertains LaGrange on Tuesday before visting Rayne on Thursday as district competition continues.
North Vermilion jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Lexi Broussard singled and scored on a hit by Madie Broussard.
After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Patriots exploded for three runs in the top of the third, begun when Lexi Broussard singled before Kennedy Semien and Rani Meaux both reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases.
Natalie Naomi’s sacrifice fly allowed Lexi Broussard to score for Lady Patriot 2-0 lead.
Alyssa Akers then doubled in Semien and Meaux as North Vermilion pushed ahead, 4-0.
The Lady Pats added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to move ahead, 6-0.
Abigail Lopez singled and scored when Lexi Broussard reached on an error.
Madi Broussard reached on a two-out error that allowed Lexi Broussard to score and increase the margin to six runs.
North Vermilion pushed across two more runs in the top of the fifth when Naomi reached on an error and Akers followed with a home run to left field.
After threatening in the first, second and fourth innings, the Lady Cats finally scored on a solo home run by Alissa Pate to lead off the bottom of the fifth to close the gap to 8-1.
Eunice added a run in the bottom of the sixth when Gabby Mitchell tripled and scored when Olivia Thibodeaux reached on an error.
Guillory finished 2-for-2 with a walk, while Pate went 1-for-1 with two walks.
Akers went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and also earned the win as she struck out two, walked four and allowed two runs on five hits.
