Four Eunice High baseball players were named to the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-Region 5 team.
Senior catcher Joshua Youngblood, junior infielder Tyler Darbonne, senior outfiielder Jayden Brasseaux and junior utility player Austin Phillips were all selected after earning All-District 5-3A honors.
The Region 5 Pitcher of the Year was Iota junior Hunter Wriborg.
Joining Wriborg on the All-Region team were Bulldog junior pitcher Tristan Miller and senior Brett Spell.
Iota senior infielder Will Doughty and sophomore utility player Andrew Ashby were also named to the All-Region team.
Pine Prairie junior infielder Jordan Ardoin along with Sacred Heart of Ville Platte outfielder J.T. Harper and utility player Garret Fontenot were other area players selected by the coaches.
Eunice (29-10, 12-2) finished as district runners-up and opened the playoffs with a 15-5 win over No. 28 Avoyelles.
The Bobcats then rolled to a pair of 12-2, 6-2 victories over No. 12 North Vermilion in the best-of-three regional round games.
Eunice’s season ended in the Class 3-A quarterfinals as the Bobcats fell 12-2, 12-3 to the eventual state champions Berwick.
Iota (32-5, 14-0) opened the playoffs with a 10-0 win over No. 30 Abbeville before earning a 2-1 series over No. 14 Loranger (1-4, 4-2, 10-0).
The Bulldogs then grabbed a 2-1 quarterfinal series win over No. 6 South Beauregard (4-5, 6-0, 8-2).
Iota earned a 3-0 win over No. 2 Brusly in the semifinals before falling 7-1 to No. 4 Berwick in the title game.
Pine Prairie (19-13, 8-6) opened the playoffs with a 7-6 win over No 17 Westlake before falling 3-0. 6-0 to No. 1 Sterlington in the regional round series.
Youngblood finished with a .421 batting average with 15 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 43 RBI, 16 walks, 10 hit by pitches and 46 runs scored.
Darbonne had a .531 batting average with nine doubles, 10 triples, 20 walks, three home runs, 45 runs scored and 50 RBI.
Phillips finished with a .330 batting average including five doubles, two triples, 34 walks, nine hit by pitches, 45 runs scored and 16 RBI.
Brasseaux had a .459 batting average with 17 doubles, a home run, 24 walks, 10 hit by pitches and 36 runs scored.
