OPELOUSAS – After a sluggish second period, the Bobcats used a strong fourth quarter as Eunice earned a 62-54 win over Port Barre in the Opelousas Catholic tournament.
Eunice (1-1) will travel to J.S. Clark next Monday and Northwest on Tuesday before participating in the St. Landry Parish tournament that is set to begin Dec. 19 at North Central.
The Bobcats opened with a 16-9 run, aided by five points from Dedrick Vigers and four points by Shawn Hudson.
Frank Lazard pushed in six of the Red Devils’ nine points in the period.
Port Barre (1-5) regrouped to outscore the Bobcats 18-7 in the second period as the Red Devils took a 27-23 lead into the intermission.
Simeon Ardoin hit a trey and Vigers added four points for the Bobcat points in the quarter.
Keyeron Malveaux led Port Barre with six points on the period, while Andre Tremble and J.T. Pickney both added four points.
Port Barre continued its momentum with a 20-17 battle in the third period to hold onto a 47-40 lead.
Mehkai Franklin led the Red Devils with eight points, while Malveaux contributed six points.
Cooper led the Bobcats with seven points in the quarter, while Ardoin drilled two treys and Joseph Anderson chipped in four points.
Eunice exploded for a 22-7 run in the final period to seal its first win of the season.
Ardoin hit two treys and added a bucket to lead the Bobcats with 19 points.
Treylon Cooper added three points in the fourth quarter to finish with 14 points.
Hudson pushed in three buckets to help the Cats’ rally and finished with 10 points on the night.
Malveaux hit a trey for the Red Devils in the final frame to finish with 18 points.
Tremble added a bucket to finish with 10 points, while a free throw by Mehkai Franklin gave him 11 points in the game.

St. Ed's 39, Notre Dame 22
The Lady Jays exploded for 15 points in the fourth quarter as St. Edmund earned a 39-22 win over Notre Dame.
St. Edmund jumped out for an 11-5 first quarter lead, sparked by eight points from Mary Beth Lafleur.
Notre Dame regrouped for a 7-6 second quarter edge to close the gap to 18-11 at the break.
Lafleur scored three points in the period, while Savannah DeVillier and Rebecca Benoit each added a bucket for the Lady Jays.
Notre Dame continued to keep the game close as the Lady Pioneers battled to a 7-6 edge in the third period.
DeVillier scored three points in the frame, while Tanzy Miller added a free throw.
St. Edmund then put the game away with the 15-4 final period run, aided by seven points from Kinsley Marcantel.
Lafleur led all scorers with 15 points, while DeVillier contributed 11 and Marcantel chipped in eight points.
Jeanne Claire Schmid led Notre Dame with 10 points.

Jennings 38, SEH 32
ELTON – The game was close until the fourth quarter when Jennings went on a 14-6 run to grab a 38-32 win over St. Edmund in the consolation final of the Elton tournament.
The Lady Jays opened with a 8-7 first quarter advantage, sparked by four points from Marcantel.
Jillian Fontenot led Jennings with five points in the period.
The Lady Bulldogs went on a 10-7 second quarter run to grab a 17-16 advantage at the intermission.
Marcantel and Lafleur each scored three points and DeVillier added a bucket.
Kyla Chambers led Jennings with four points in the frame.
St. Edmund responded with a 10-7 battle in the third quarter as the Lady Jays moved ahead, 26-24.
Anna Belle Fontenot and Lafleur each scored four points and DeVillier added a bucket.
Jennings sealed the win with its fourth quarter surge, led by four points each from Fontenot and Chambers.
Fontenot finished with 14 points and Chambers chipped in 10 points.
Benoit, Marcantel and DeVillier each scored two points in the period for the Lady Jays.
Marcantel and Lafleur both finished with nine points, while DeVillier added eight points.
The Lady Jays (4-4) travel to Pine Prairie today before visting Plainview on Friday.

St. Ed’s 44, Lacassine 42
BELL CITY – St. Edmund’s Easton Coleman scored on a put-back bucket with 20 seconds left as the Blue Jays earned a 44-42 win over Lacassine in the Bell City tournament.
The Cardinals opened with a 12-8 first quarter lead, but St. Edmund answered with a 17-11 second quarter surge to give SEH a 25-23 advantage at the break.
Kieran Davis led the Blue Jays with nine points in the first half.
Lacassine began the second half with a 13-11 third quarter as the Cardinals to force a 36-36 tie.
The game remained tight until the end the Jays outscored Lacassine, 8-6 in the fourth period.
Davis pushed in six points in the third period and another bucket in the fourth quarter to lead the Jays with 17 points.
Coleman scored six points in the final period to finish with 10 points.
Alex Dupre chipped in nine points including the Jays’ only trey in the game.

Notre Dame 61, SEH 50
The Blue Jays battled the whole contest, but the Pioneers controlled the second and third period as Notre Dame earned a 61-50 win over St. Edmund.
The Blue Jays led 13-10 after the first quarter, but Notre Dame exploded for a 23-10 run in the second period for a 33-23 halftime advantage.
Matt Bernard drilled three treys to spark Notre Dame’s second period scoring.
Henry Brown hit a trey and Dupre added three free throws to lead the Jays.
The Pioneers continued their dominance with a 16-9 surge in the third period, aided by seven points by Zach Lamm.
Dupre pushed in five points to lead the Jays in the period, while Davis and Coleman added two points each.
St. Edmund recovered for an 18-11 fourth period run to close the final gap to 11 points.
Brown exploded for eight points to finish with 13 points on the night.
Dupre followed with 12 points, while Coleman added 10 points and Davis chipped in eight points for the Jays.
Lamm led Notre Dame with 12 points, while Chris Schmid and Nick Swacker both contrbuted 11 points.
St. Edmund (2-3) travels to Loreauville today before returning home Monday to face Basile.
