Nine Lady Jays land on 5-1A team

All four District 5-1A team earned spots in the LHSAA Division IV state softball playoffs.
Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (17-9, 6-0) rolled to the disrict championship and the Lady Hornets grabbed wins over district rival No. 15 Westminster Christian Academy (4-13, 0-6) and No. 7 St. Mary’s before falling 8-0 in the state semifinals to eventual state runners-up Cedar Creek.
No. 4 seed False River Academy (19-10, 3-3) grabbed a 18-3 regional round win win over Highland Baptist before falling 12-2 to Central Catholic of Morgan City.
No. 8 St. Edmund (11-15, 3-3) fell 10-0 to Ascension Catholic in the regional round.
The Lady Jays placed nine players on the All-District 5-1A list.
Maggie Larriviere was named first team pitcher, while sKelli Richard earned first team third baseman honors.
Gabby Fontenot was named first team utility player, while Mary Beth Lafleur earned first team outfielder honors.
Lady Jay Kinsley Marcantel was named second team catcher and Abby Miller earned a second team utility player berth.
St. Edmund’s Allison Lafleur, Olivia McDaniel and Olivia Clark were named to the Honorable Mention list.
Catholic High-Pointe Coupee pitcher Ryann Bizette and catcher Blaire Bizette join second baseman Kaitley Fisher on the all-district first team.
CHPC’s Kenedie Richardson earned first team honors at shortstop, joining team mates Maddie Landry (outfiielder) and Sarah Welch (utility player) on the first team.
Westminster first baseman Destiny Ledoux was placed on the first team.
False River Academy leftfielder Morgan Meche earned first team honors along with utility players Mari Webre and Sarah Allen.
FRA had five players land on the All-Disrict second team including pitcher Carly Parks, first baseman Lexi Breaux, second baseman Kayla Nolen, along with outfielders Kayla Dauthier and Callie Nipple.
CHPC had three players selected to the second team with third baseman Kailynn LeBlanc, outfielder Preslie Tuminello and utility player Camryn Lamkin.
WCA had three players placed on the second team including pitcher Kassie Salling, shortstop Alexis Jones and utility player Emily Mouton.
Along with Lady Jays Clark, McDaniel and Lafleur, the honorable mention list included False River’s Lexi Sellers and Westminster’s Autumn Brazier, Katie Salling, Brianna Winston and Isabel Armand.
