No. 10 Blue Jays face Warriors

The St. Edmund defense recorded its fifth shutout of the season against Grand Lake and the Blue Jay offense scored the second most points in program history in the 67-0 victory.
With a 7-1 overall record, the Blue Jays finally broke in to the LSWA football polls at No. 10.
St. Edmund (7-1, 5-0)presently No. 8 in the LHSAA power rankings and will entertain Hamilton Christian (1-7, 1-4) Friday night.
The Blue Jays have outscored its opponents 269-28 so far this season.
In addition to the shutouts, the St. Edmund defense has recorded 14 interceptions and 12 quarterback sacks.
“We have done a good job of eliminating the other team from making big plays,” Hargoder said.
The Jays allowed long touchdown passes against Hanson Memorial, Sacred Heart and Oberlin but held the other teams from scoring.
“We are coming together, but I still don’t think we have played our best game yet,” St. Edmund head coach Andy Hargroder said. “But we are getting there.”
The Warriors opened the season 0-6 with losses to East Beauregard (34-30), East Iberville (22-14), Covenant Christian (39-0), South Cameron (41-26), Elton (16-0) and Oberlin (32-8).
The Warriors’ sole win was an 18-16 win over Grand Lake.
Hamilton Christian fell 34-0 last week to Merryville.
“They are very athletic and they have a really good running back (Reginald Jackson) who probably has over 1,600 yards rushing and he will be the best back we have played all year.
“We going to have to work really hard to contain him as we don’t want to him to get outside and have a big play.
“They will spread it out and throw to throw it against us,” Hargroder said. “They don’t have many players but they do have a bunch of good athletes.”
In other district games this week, Basile entertains Grand Lake, Elton travels to Merryville while Oberlin will receive a forfeit win over South Cameron.
