Eunice looks to remain perfect on the season with a trip to Ville Platte Friday.
The No. 7 ranked Bobcats opened the season with wins over Northwest and Jennings.
Ville Platte won the annual Tee Cotton Bowl with a 34-14 victory over rival Sacred Heart of Ville Platte, but the Bulldogs suffered a 22-7 defeat at Grand Lake.
Ville Platte jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead on a short touchdown run by Jahmal Byers, but after that it was all Grand Lake as the Hornets picked off three Bulldogs passes to stop the VPHS offense.
“They are very athletic,” Trosclair said of Ville Platte. “They have a quarterback who can both run and throw.
“We expect a challenge from their offense as they have some guys who can catch and they don’t mind throwing it deep,” the coach said. “Anytime you face a team with a quarterback who can run and throw – it always makes it interesting.
“They have good size on both the offensive and defensive lines.”
The last time the Bobcats faced Ville Platte in 2016, Eunice won 45-14.
The Bobcats won in 2015, 34-0.
Trosclair said he was pleased to see his defense step up against Jennings.
“I saw a big improvement on defense,” he said. “We need to clean up our mistakes on offense –hopefully we can do that this week.”
Deon Ardoin finished with 130 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown in the win over Jennings.
Devin Richardson added 92 yards on eight carries including a 63-yard touchdown run with 1:11 left in the game.
Eunice outgained Jennings 285 – 191 yards of total offense.
“We want to continue to get better and everything we do as we head toward district,” Trosclair said. “We are far from a perfect football team, we have a lot of things we can improve on.
“We are only worried about our stuff and how we can get better.”
