Panthers run past Jays

PINE PRAIRIE – The Panthers opened with a 30-16 first quarter run as Pine Prairie cruised to an 89-49 win over St. Edmund Tuesday night.
Darnell Durgin pushed in 13 points to help the Panthers (10-4) grab the early advantage.
Stephan Thibodeaux scored six points for the Blue Jays (2-13), while Christian Fontenot and Alex Dupre each contributed four points in the period.
Pine Prairie continued its dominance with a 17-11 second period as the Panthers took a 47-27 lead into the locker room.
Raylin Thomas and Sylus Carson scored three points to help the Panthers, while Austin Gradney scored six points in the second frame for the Jays.
Pine Prairie opened the second half with a 22-10 third quarter surge to push ahead, 69-37.
Kyler Carson hit two treys and B.T. Ardoin added five points for the Panthers.
Dupre hit four points for the Jays in the period.
Pine Prairie capped the one-sided win with a 20-12 fourth-quarter run, aided by treys from Carons and Allen Poullard along with four points by J.J. Sims.
Gradney drained two treys for the Jays to finish with 14 points.
Dupre added a bucket to finish with 12 points, while Fontenot hit a shot at the buzzer to finish with six points.
Thibodeaux chipped in nine points for the Jays, whiule Carter Andrus added six points.
Durgin led Pine Prairie with 17 points, while Sylus Carson contributed 13 piints and Kyler Carson added nine points.
St. Edmund will entertain Opelousas Catholic 6 p.m. tonight.
