Rayne sweeps Eunice

RAYNE – It was a district sweep over Eunice for Rayne Tuesday.
Rayne 59, Eunice 47
Eunice’s Leah Walker got it started for the Lady Bobcats after nailing two mid-range shots to start off the game.
Rayne responded with four points from Paige Figaro.
Walker answered with another 2-pointer, and Allison Freeman knocked down a shot as well.
Madison Freeman also pitched in for the Bobcats with a layup and a free-throw.
Figaro made another layup and Braille Washington made two free-throws and mid-range shot putting the score 11-10 at the end of the first quarter with the Bobcats leading.
To start the second quarter, Allison Freeman knocked down another 2-pointer and Madison Freeman also made a layup. Rayne answered back after a 3-pointer by Lauren Broussard and a couple shots by Braille Washington.
Madison Freeman responded with her own 3-pointer and Shaynia Toussaint knocked down one free-throw.
Rayne quickly responded back shot by Leah Trahan Trivion Francis to go into halftime with lean and the score at 23-19.
The Lady Cat’s came out in third quarter with Walker adding a 2-pointer, and Madison Freeman draining two layups.
Toussaint also made two shots and then nailed the deep three-pointer.
Rayne fired back with a couple shots by Lauren Broussard and Leah Trahan.
Washington knocked down two layups, and then made a 3-pointer to go ahead by 1 with the score at 37-36 going into the fourth quarter.
To start the fourth, Eunice’s Saige Freeman nailed both of her free-throws and Toussaint made a layup.
Walker made a mid-range and two free-throws and Allison Freeman made a layup and a free-throw.
Rayne answered back with Figaro and Leah Trahan both making two shots each.
Washington knocked down three layups and Trivion Francis knocked down a shot and made five free-throws to finish off the game with the final score at 59-47.
Rayne’s top scorer belonged to Braille Washington with 24 points.
Eunice’s top scorer was Madison Freeman with 14 points.
The Lady Cats district record falls to 3-13 with the district record at 0-3.
Eunice returns home Friday to take on Washington-Marion (3-13, 0-1).

Rayne 73, EHS 59
Eunice fell to Rayne, 73-59 in a District 4-4A battle.
With the loss, the Bobcats dropped to 2-13 overall, 0-2 in district.
Eunice entertains Washington-Marion (9-8. 0-0) Friday.
Rayne started out the game with two-pointers from Lion Smith, Tayshawn Colomb, Rico Price, and Desmond Mouton.
Smith kept it going with four free-throws, as did Desmond Mouton with a free-throw.
The Bobcats responded with when Joseph Anderson nailed three 2-pointers and a free-throw by Shaun Hudson.
Terance Shilow also drained a three-pointer and a 2-pointer.
Rayne led Eunice 23-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Smith opened op the second quarter with a layup. Followed by two free-throws.
Antonio Cormier nailed a three-pointer along with two more free throws.
Lance Smith also contributed with a free-throw.
Eunice followed up making four shots included by Joseph Anderson and Terance Shilow.
Dedrick Vigers added on to it with two layups and a 3-pointer.
Going into the half, the Bobcats led 34-33.
Rayne came out hot to start the second half including shots by Kaleb Colomb, Jyrius Cole, and Lance Smith.
But Smith put on his own show by dropping 16 points.
On the other side, the Bobcats could mange nine points.
Those points were provide by a Bryson Poullard 3-pointer and a few shots by Joseph Anderson and Terance Shilow.
The Wolves were ahead 59-43 going into the fourth quarter.
Smith kept firing as he nailed two shots to start the final period.
Tayshawn Colomb knocked down two three-pointers along with a layup and Don Charks also pitched in with a layup.
The Bobcats did their best to climb the deficit at the end by shots by Dedrick Vigers, Shaun Hudson, Clement Joseph, and Rondrelyn Mitchell.
The 16 points by the Bobcats wasn’t enough as they took the loss 73-59.
Rayne’s top score was Lion Smith with 30 points.
The Bobcat’s top scorers included Joseph Anderson and Terance Shilow with each 15 points.
