St. Edmund and Basile split games Tuesday as the two rivals faced off in non-district battles.

In the boys action, the St. Edmund Blue Jays exploded for 21 points in the first quarter as St. Ed’s earned a 66-42 win.
Basile’s Keeman Ivory scored the game’s first three points, but the Jays answered with a 15-1 run.
Travis Mondares hit a trey for the Bearcats with two minutes left in the period, but the Blue Jays closed the quarter with a 6-2 run for a 21-9 advantage.
Henry Brown led the Jays with eight points in the first period.
Alex Dupre drained back-to-back treys and Coleman scored in the lane to begin the Jays’ second quarter surge.
After a three-pointer by Basile’s Jamal Ceaser, the Jays answered with five points from Brown and a bucket off a steal by Kieran Davis.
Ian Dupre scored on a putback bucket to push the Jays ahead by 21 points before a trey at the buzzer by Ceaser closed the gap to 38-20 at the break.
Alex Dupre led the Jays with six points in the period, while Brown added five points.
St. Edmund continued its control of the game with a 17-9 third quarter run, sparked by five points from Davis and four more by Luke Trahan.
After a drive in the lane by Brown gave the Jays a 49-25 advantage, Gavin Ardoin hit a trey as the Bearcats battled to stay in the game.
St. Edmund closed the third period with four free throws followed by a late layup by Alex Dupre to push the Jays ahead, 54-29.
The Blue Jays opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run, sparked by a pair of inside buckets by Coleman.
Basile mounted a late 13-7 run including a pair of treys to close the final gap to 66-42.
Brown finished with 19 points to lead the Jays.
Coleman chipped in 13 points, while Alex Dupre and Davis both added 10 points.
Ceaser led Basile (0-6) with 13 points.

In the girls game, the Lady Bearcats used a strong third quarter as Basile grabbed a 52-48 win over the Lady Jays.
St. Edmund (4-7) jumped out to a 5-0 lead on a drive in the lane by Rebecca Benoit and a three-point play by Savannah DeVillier.
Basile (5-7) grabbed a 10-7 advantage, aided by a 7-0 run.
St. Edmund answered with treys by Kinsley Marcantel and Mary Beth Lafleur along with another drive in the lane by Benoit to push the Lady Jays ahead, 15-10.
Shayla Lavergne hit a trey in the final minute of the period to help the Lady Bearcats close the the gap to 15-13.
After Basile tied the game to begin the second period, the Lady Jays answered with a 7-0 sparked by a trey from Marcantel.
Lady Cat Shayla Lavergne and St. Ed’s Lafleur exchanged long range treys to excite the crowd.
St. Ed’s hit three free throws in the final 1:18 of the period to take a 28-20 advantage into the locker room.
It was the third period where Basile began its comeback as the Lady Bearcats opened with a 9-2 run, including a trey by Ryah Ashford.
Benoit scored twice in the lane for the Lady Jays as St. Ed’s grabbed a 32-31 lead midway through the period.
After a bucket by Basile’s Frida Alvarez, Lafleur answered with trey for the Lady Jays.
A pair of jump shots by Lainey Soileau and two free throws from Lavergne pushed Basile ahead, 39-35.
Lafleur converted a three-point play to pull the Lady Jays closer, 39-38.
But buckets by Soileau and Ashford gave Basile a 43-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
A trey by Alvarez and a drive in the lane by Soileau increased Basile’s lead to 50-40.
Buckets by Benoit, Marcantel, DeVillier, Tanzy Miller and Lafleur helped the Lady Jays close the game with a 10-4 run but Basile held on for the four point win.
Lafleur led St. Edmund with 15 points, while Benoit chipped in 13 points.
Marcantel and DeVillier both scored seven points.
Alvarez led Basile with 18 points, while Soileau added 17 points.
