Seven area teams earned playoff berths when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association relased its 2017 softball brackets Thursday.
In Division IV, No. 9 St. Edmund (11-14) will entertain No. 9 Ascension Catholic (13-11) 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Last season, the Lady Jays grabbed a 7-3 win over Lafayette Christian before falling 4-0 to Hanson Memorial.
In Division III, No. 9 Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (17-10) visits No. 8 Opelousas Catholic.
In 2016, the Lady Trojans earned a 4-3 win over Opelousas Catholic before Notre Dame knocked them out of the playoffs, 15-3.
In Class 2-A, No. 11 Mamou (13-10) will host No. 22 Lake Arthur.
The Lady Demons last made the playoffs in 2015, falling in the first round to Kinder (4-0).
In Class 3-A, No. 26 Eunice (8-18) will travel to No. 6 Jena 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The Lady Cats last appeared in the playoffs in 2012, falling 10-0 at Jennings.
No. 4 Pine Prairie (24-7) will entertain No. 29 Northwest.
The Lady Panthers advanced to the quarterfinals with wins over Berwicl (6-0) and St. James (12-2) before being shut out by top-seed Parkview (8-2).
No. 15 Church Point (16-7) entertain No. 18 South Beauregard.
The Lady Bears fell 13-3 to Winnfield to open the 2016 playoffs.
No. 19 Iota (10-15) visits No. 14 West Feliciana.
Last season, the Lady Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinals with wins over Port Allen (16-0) and Winnfield (5-3) before falling to eventual state champions Kaplan (3-0)
The first round games have to be played by Tuesday night with the second round to be finished by Saturday.
The state tournament is set for April 27-29 at Frasch Park in Sulphur.
