Vikings run past Bobcats

The Vikings started the game with a 9-2 run and the Bobcats were never able to catch up as Eunice suffered a 90-55 loss to Opelousas Catholic.
As soon as tip-off occurred, OC’s Caleb Relbin came out strong and knocked down a three pointer to start the game.
This led to a big early lead for the Vikings in a 9-2 run.
OC didn’t stop their when Bone Patin nailed a deep three to put the Vikings ahead by 10.
The Bobcats kept committing costly turnovers and OC’s Keon Coleman made the Bobcats pay when he threw down a dunk halfway through the first quarter making the score 19-6.
Bobcat Dedrick Vigers quickly drove down the lane, pulled off a spin move and converted the layup to make the score 23-8.
After the Vikings got back on offense, Caleb Relbin managed to snag an offensive board and go up for the put-back dunk to push the lead to 19 with the score at 28-9.
Eunice quickly responded when Terance Shillow drained a deep three pointer to make the score 30-12 to end the first quarter.
OC came out hot to start the second quarter when Bone Patin recorded an easy Fastbreak bucket to put the score 34-12.
The Bobcats responded with a pass from Shillow to Dedrick Vigers for the layout after an OC miss.
Keon Coleman continued his spree with another slam midway through the second quarter pushing the score to 39-14.
Coleman grabbed a few rebounds and turned on the jets when he converted the and-one to raise the score to 42-23.
Treylon Cooper quickly took matters into his own hands when he nailed a three pointer after a turnover committed by OC.
In the closing seconds, OC’s Mikhi Jones snagged a steal and converted a layup to push the score to 58-26 going into intermission.
The Bobcats wanted to come out strong in the second half when Cooper snagged a rebound and went across the court to lay it up making the OC lead 60-30.
Coleman responded by drawing a foul and sinking both free-throws to push OC ahaed, 62-30.
Coleman continued his dominance when he dunked an alley-oop from his teammate Patin.
The Vikings extended their lead 64-30 halfway to through the third quarter.
Eunice’s Cooper made another three pointer late in the third quarter to make the score 68-37.
Relbin picked off a pass from the Bobcats and threw it down court to Coleman for the dunk putting the score 76-42 to end the third quarter.
To start the fourth quarter, the Bobcats missed several close shots but Joseph Anderson grabbed 2 offensive rebounds and converted the layup to make the score 76-44.
Coleman was just all over the court when he picked up another steal and slammed it down again to put the Vikings ahead 82-49.
Halfway through the fourth quarter, Mikhi Jones made a contested three pointer to raise the score even higher.
After the Bobcats committed lots of turnovers late in the fourth quarter, OC’s Jones nailed another three pointer to make the score 90-55 with a minute left to go in the game.
Coleman led the Vikings with 22 points.
Cooper led the Bobcats with 12 points.
Eunice travels to J.S. Clark on Monday before visiting Northwest on Tuesday.
The annual St. Landry Parish basketball tournament begins Thursday at North Central.
