Warriors run past Blue Jays

In their second game under new head coach Kevin Straub, St. Edmund fell 56-32 to Northaide Christian Thursday night at the Blue Jay gym.
The Warriors (1-11) picked up its first win of the season, while St. Edmund dropped to 0-2.
Northside Christiab opened with a 6-1 before Luke Trahan hit a jumper for the Jays.
A drive in the lane by Christian Fontenot heloed the Jays close the gap to 10-5 with 1:46 left in the opening period.
Carter Andrus hit a junper late in the quarter before Nick Jones scored on a put-back bucket to give the Warriors a 14-7 lead heading into the second period.
Northside Christian pushed ahead 17-7 before a trey from Wesley Driggs closed the gap to seven points with 5:38 left in the half.
The Warriors then went on a 9-0 run, sparked by five pionts from Anthony Stansbury as NCA increased its lead to 26-10.
Trahan hit a trey and Andrus scored in the lane as the Blue Jays battled to close the margin to 26-15.
Lance Martin scored two free throws in the final minute to help give the Warriors a 28-15 advantage at intermission.
Northside outscored the Jays 18-7 in the third frame to put the game away.
St. Edmund battled with two buckets by Fontenot and a free throw from Andrus to close the margin to 32-20 midway through the period.
After Drake Trahan scored from the baseline for the Jays, NCA then went on a 10-0 run to close out the quarter as the Warriors moved ahead, 46-22.
The two teams fought to a 10-10 tie in the fourth quarter.
Trahan opened the period with a trey for the Jays before three free throws increased the Warriors’ lead to 49-25.
Blue Jay Tyler Fonville scored on a put-back bucket, but the Warriors again responded with a 4-0 run to move ahead, 53-27.
The Jays outscored NCA 5-3 in the final minutes, sparked by a drive in the lane by Peyton Marcantel, a free throw from Trahan and a baseline jumper by Easten Coleman to close the gap to 56-32.
Stansburg finished with 21 points to lead the Warriors, while Nick Jones, Keegan Foreman and Timothy Hanks each scored eight points in the win.
Trahan led St. Edmund with nine points, while Fontenot chipped in seven points.
The Blue Jays return to action at home Friday against Westminster Christian Academy (2-2).
