Westlake downs Lady Bobcats

WESTLAKE – The Lady Bobcats’ basketball season ended Thursday as Westlake grabbed a 67-52 win over Eunice High.
The Lady Rams (17-9)jumped out to a 2-19 first quarter, sparked by 11 points from Jada Gassaway.
Eunice senior Stacie White began the game with eight points in the period, including two three-pointers.
Jesslyn Reed hit a free throw for the only other Lady Cat point in the period.
Eunice (16-12) regrouped in the second frame to get back in the game with a 20-6 scoring barrage.
White, Reed and Aaroliana Minor all scored six points for the Lady Cats and Hailey Sonnier added a bucket to help EHS force a 29-29 tie at the break.
The Lady Rams responded with a 14-9 run in the third period to retake a 43-38 advantage.
Guillory scored nine points for Westlake in the quarter, while White pushed in seven points for the Lady Cats.
Shaynia Toussaint hit two free throws to account for the other EHS points in the period.
Westlake sealed the win with a 19-14 fourth quarter run, aided by 11 points from Guillory who finished with 25 points.
Gassaway chipped in three free throws to finish with 18 points.
White scored seven points in the period to close the night with 28 points.
Leah Walker scored five points in the quarter and Toussaint added a bucket for the Lady Cats.
Westlake will travel to top-seed Loranger (24-2) Monday in a regional round contest.

Iota 48, Crowley 39
In a battle between District 5-3A rivals, the No. 8 Iota Lady Bulldogs opened the playoffs with a 48-39 win over No. 25 Crowley.
Iota (22-12) will entertain No. 24 Madison Parish (17-13) on Monday.
Crowley (14-14) opened the game with a 16-11 edge, aided by five points each from Macy Miller and Taylor Walker along with four points from Taylor Perkins.
Iota’s Andrianna Curtis pushed in four points, while Colleen Johnson and Avery Young both added three-pointers in the quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs rallied for a 13-5 run in the second quarter to grab a 24-21 halftime advantage.
Kendall Miller led Iota with six points in the frame, while Young chipped in three points.
Perkins and Imani Jackson each scored a basket for the Ladies and Lily Hoffpauir hit a free throw in the period,
The two teams continued to battle in the third quarter as Iota outscored Crowley 11-9.
Miller scored five points to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Hoffpauir pushed in four points for Crowley.
With a 35-30 advantage heading into the fourth quarter, Iota sealed the win with a 13-9 run.
Lily Zaunbrecher and Miller both pushed in buckets for the Lady Bulldogs, while the other nine points came off Iota free throws.
Perkins scored five points and Walker added a trey as Crowley fought to keep the game close.
Perkins finished with 11 points and Walker contributed eight points.
Miller led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points, while Johnson chipped in 11 points.
Young finished with nine points and Curtis added eight points.
