Young - Frey tournament begins today

The annual John R. Young Chevrolet/Frey Holding Company begins today with 28 teams partcipating at nine different locations.
“We are looking to finaly get to play some games at home,” Eunice High head baseball coach Scott Phillips said. “Because of the rainy weather we have had to move to fields that had turf.
“We want to play in front of our home crowd and hopefully we can get some sunny and warmer weather.”
At Eunice High, New Iberia will take on South Beauregard at 4:30 p.m.
The Bobcats will then face South Terrebonne at 6:45 p.m.
At Blue Jay Field at North Park, today’s play begins at 4:30 p.m. as Oberlin takes on Lafayette Christian Academy.
St. Edmund will face Welsh at 6:45 p.m.
Friday’s games at Bobcat Field will begin at 4:30 p.m. as Church Point takes on Lake Arthur.
The Bobcats will then face Westgate at 6:45 p.m.
At Blue Jay Field, Beau Chene will face Mamou at 4:30 p.m.
St. Ed’s will take on Welsh at 6:45 p.m. to conlude Friday’s acion.
Saturday’s game at EHS begin at 11 a.m. when Welsh faces Mamou.
Lafayette Christian Academy will take on Catholic High – Pointe Coupee at 1:15 p.m.
The Bobcats will Eunice Breaux Bridge at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday’s games at Blue Jay Field begin at 11 a.m. when Kinder takes on Ouachita Christian.
St. Ed’s will close the tournament at 1:15 p.m. against Northside.
Iota will also be a host team with six games played over three days.
Mamou will face Grand Lake at 4:30 p.m. today, followed by Iota - Beau Chene at 6:45 p.m.
Friday’s games at Bulldog Field begin at 4:30 p.m. when Brusly takes on West Ouachita.
Iota then then face Brusly at 6:45 p.m.
On Saturday, Pine Prairie will take on Oberlin at 11 a.m., followed by Iota –South Beauregard at 1:15 p.m.
The tournament will also be played at Jennings, Sacred Heart of Ville Platte, Breaux Bridge, Lafayette High, New Iberia, Kinder and Ascension Episcopal fields.
“We are excited about the line-up at all the fields,” Phillips said. “We are hopeful to get all the games in even if we have to move a few games to Sunday.”
